Electrical Design Engineer - Substations Primary Design

Role description:

You will join our Energy Transition team, working together with the Arcadis Europe Energy Transition team. In this department, we focus on the preliminary and detailed design of high-voltage primary electrical infrastructure, covering primary substations, power generating stations, wind farms and solar farms. Our projects are delivered according to high-quality standards, with a strong focus on technical excellence. As part of your role, you will also have the opportunity to develop your knowledge of international design standards through internal technical training, certifications and continuous education.

Role accountabilities:

· Preparing and reviewing engineering deliverables including complex reports, proposals, presentations, and drawing packages.

· HV transmission and distribution substations primary electrical design, layout design, specification of plant, coordination of civil design, earthing system analysis and design.

· Taking personal responsibility for the preparation of detailed engineering documentation.

· To deliver fully documented designs to meet Client objectives and Arcadis quality system requirements.

· Ensure application of relevant EU standards and engineering knowledge in various projects.

· Design support structures for AIS and GIS equipment , collaborating with manufacturers or customer to communicate requirements and review technical documentation

· Taking personal responsibility for the preparation of detailed engineering documentation

· To manage selected projects, project task/responsibilities as assigned, and/or design processes (or parts of projects) to meet agreed budget, quality, and timeframe targets.

· Apply engineering knowledge, techniques and tools complying with international design standards and EU Codes and Standards relevant to the assigned project.

· Prepare document and drawing package for the appropriate project design submission stage complying with codes and standards and delivering the design with high quality.

· Conduct internal review and quality checks of engineering drawings and design calculations to ensure compliance with the project's requirements.

· Prepare and register all relevant documentation and design reports and ensure all documentation is accurate and in compliance with the Arcadis and customer requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

· Graduate in Bachelor of Technology/ Science in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University.

· 1-3 years’ experience in substation primary design, preferably in a consulting environment.

· Consulting experience in power projects in EU is preferred.

· Experience in the production of CAD documentation to EU Standards and other international design standards.

· Knowledge of specialized 3D software (examples: Revit, SolidWorks, Inventor, Microstation).

· Knowledge of 2D detailing drawings (AutoCAD - preferred).

· Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

· Excellent mathematical skills applied in engineering calculations.
