Water and Wastewater Plant Project Engineer

Summary of Position:
This position is a home office or field position that assists with the management, coordination, and hands-on construction of one or multiple projects in the water and wastewater treatment industry. Project Engineers work directly for the Project Manager, Project Superintendent, or Estimators. This may require hands-on training and working with your tools. Previous Water and Wastewater construction experience is preferred. They thrive on planning projects and working with project teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Update project schedules as required.
• Assist the Project Manager with purchase orders, submittal reviews and preparation.
• Maintain job files, submittal logs, request for information, change and field orders.
• Verify field measurements for material fabrication and expedite deliveries.
• Spare parts transfer.
• Attend meetings with subcontractors, engineers and owners.
• Remain current on safety standards and provide knowledge & feedback.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
• Assist in estimating responsibilities.
• Maintain daily jobsite and production logs, daily/weekly records of deliveries, stored materials, equipment hours, and other logs.
• Maintain as-built drawings and specifications.
• Act as intermediary between field workers and Superintendent.
• Take part in construction activities as frequently as possible while maintaining other listed responsibilities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Educational background - preferably a Bachelor’s degree, at a minimum, in the fields of civil engineering, environmental engineering and/or construction management (Field working experience may be considered without a degree).
• Prior internship or Co-op experience is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage priorities, workflow and handle multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:

• Frequent travel by car; Proof of insurance and a clean DMV record may be required.
• Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
• The noise level in the work environment varies from quiet to loud.
• May be required to wear appropriate PPE equipment when in the field.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision ability to adjust focus.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; sit; talk and hear. The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Must be able to safely work with sharp tools and/or power equipment.
• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.
• Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
