THE OPPORTUNITY

The General Manager, Interiors is responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and performance management across the Paint, Spray Foam, and Drywall departments. This role plays a key leadership function in driving operational efficiency, profitability, quality, and safety while ensuring alignment with company goals and customer expectations.

 

Working closely with department leaders and senior management, the General Manager, Interiors will oversee budgeting, workforce planning, project execution, and operational processes while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all interior operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Leadership

  • Provide direct leadership to the Paint, Spray Foam, and Drywall Managers.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to improve productivity, operational efficiency, quality, and profitability.
  • Oversee resource allocation, scheduling, and material procurement in coordination with department managers.
  • Monitor divisional progress and proactively address operational challenges in partnership with senior leadership.
  • Implement and continuously improve operational processes aligned with market trends and business objectives.
  • Foster a positive team culture focused on safety, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.

Financial & Project Management

  • Manage departmental budgets, including forecasting, cost control, and variance analysis for awarded and multi-family projects.
  • Work closely with Production and Estimating teams to review and approve estimates prior to client release.
  • Assist with implementing and adhering to sub-contractor rates for related scopes.
  • Support accurate billing and cost projections in collaboration with accounting and regional leadership.
  • Mitigate financial and operational risk by resolving project-related challenges proactively.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Support internal HR and recruitment efforts for key interior department roles.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and site visits to provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback.
  • Promote strong communication and collaboration across departments and teams.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Address escalated issues and ensure client satisfaction through proactive communication and problem-solving.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, builders, trades, and internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare monthly operational reports for senior leadership highlighting performance, achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Leadership experience within construction, interiors, drywall, paint, spray foam, or related building services industries.
  • Strong operational management experience within multi-project or multi-department environments.
  • Proven experience managing budgets, forecasting, cost controls, and project performance.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing operational teams.
  • Strong understanding of construction operations, estimating, scheduling, and project coordination.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with operations, estimating, accounting, and leadership teams.
