ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essentialfunctions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below. Mustbe able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without areasonable accommodation.
- Perform major and minor repairs to heating, ventilation, air conditioning equipment and large capacity centrifugal chillers; clean filters and replace as needed.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on low and high pressure boilers; check for proper operation of safety devices; install, repair and test backflow devices; test and treat water in boilers, chilled water and condensed water systems using standard procedures.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on bearings, pumps, polyphase motors, shaft alignments and fans.
- May be required to repair and maintain food service equipment including ovens, grills, steam generators, deep fryers and refrigeration units.
- Operate and maintain digital system controls common to a wide variety HVAC systems.
- Perform general maintenance on equipment rooms; paint equipment as necessary to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Locate, check and clean smoke detector heads to ensure reliable operation in time of emergency.
- Maintain records and files on equipment repairs and inspection activities.
- Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
- Estimate time, materials and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisition materials as required.
- Report and handle operating plant and facility emergencies in accordance with established procedures as necessary.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
High school diploma or GED; and
A two (2) year formal apprenticeship program of specialized training in boiler and air conditioning maintenance and repair; and
Three (3) years of boiler and air conditioning maintenance and repair experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
When assigned to General Services:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a State of New Mexico Journeyman Refrigeration (JR) license.
Possession of a State of New Mexico Journeyman BO1 and BO2 Boiler Operator License within six (6) months.
Possession of a certificate in EPA recovery or back flow prevention within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a State of New Mexico Journeyman Plumber (JP), Journeyman Electrician (JE98), Journeyman Gas (JG), Journeyman Pipefitter (JPF) or Journeyman Sheet Metal (JSM) preferred.Environmental:
Field environment; exposure to noise, grease, fumes and gases.
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for standing and walking for prolonged periods; moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; and operation of motorized equipment and vehicles.
