How you will make contributions that matter
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to support and improve automation systems across Saputo's Burnie and Smithton manufacturing sites. The successful applicant can be based at either our Burnie or Smithton site, with regular collaboration across both locations.
Reporting to the Automation & Control Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and developing PLC, SCADA and Production IT systems that support safe, efficient and reliable manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on technical position where you'll troubleshoot complex automation issues, deliver continuous improvement initiatives, support commissioning activities and contribute to automation and capital projects across multiple sites.

Responsibilities
- Maintain, program and troubleshoot PLC, SCADA and industrial control systems across manufacturing operations.
- Support the reliability and performance of highly automated production equipment.
- Investigate and resolve automation-related issues while providing technical support to operations and maintenance teams.
- Contribute to automation upgrades, commissioning activities and capital project delivery.
- Coach and develop maintenance personnel in automation systems and fault-finding techniques.
- Identify opportunities to improve plant efficiency, quality, safety and operational performance through automation.
About you
- Experience in Automation Engineering, Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar industrial automation role.
- Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting capability, using platforms such as Rockwell and Siemens.
- Experience working with SCADA systems within a manufacturing, industrial or processing environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Relevant qualification in Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Experience within FMCG, food processing or manufacturing environments will be highly regarded.
