Summary
The Graduate Assistant for the Andreas School of Business and Public Administration provides administrative, operational, and project support to the Dean and the Dean’s Office. This role assists with day-to-day office coordination, communications, scheduling, meeting preparation, events, logistics, and management of shared office and meeting spaces. The Graduate Assistant also supports special projects, school initiatives, research, data organization, reports, presentations, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. This position is designed to provide meaningful professional experience while supporting the effective operation of the Dean’s Office.
Essential Functions
- Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support for the Dean’s Office, including organizing information and materials, maintaining records, preparing documents, assisting with scheduling, and supporting routine office activities.
- Support the planning and execution of school meetings, events, guest visits, and related activities, including room scheduling, preparation of materials, attendee coordination, catering, technology arrangements, event setup, and management of meeting and shared spaces.
- Assist the Dean with special projects, strategic initiatives, and operational priorities by conducting research, gathering and organizing data, developing presentations and reports, tracking deadlines, and coordinating with internal and external participants.
- Assist with communications originating from or coordinated through the Dean’s Office, including drafting, formatting, and organizing correspondence, announcements, meeting materials, and other communications.
- Serve as a point of coordination, as appropriate, with faculty, staff, students, university offices, visitors, and external stakeholders to support efficient communication and follow-through.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Must be enrolled as a graduate student in a Barry University graduate program, preferably in Business Administration or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree required; graduate-level coursework preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft and format professional correspondence and materials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to support scheduling, document preparation, data organization, presentations, and general office operations.
