HR Generalist

Position Summary:

The HR Generalist supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department and serves as a key point of contact for employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and programs. This role covers a broad range of HR functions, including recruiting and onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, performance management support, compliance, and HR recordkeeping. The HR Generalist works to foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture while ensuring HR practices align with company policy and applicable employment law.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage full-cycle recruiting for assigned positions, including posting jobs, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and extending offers.
• Facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation to ensure a smooth transition into the company.
• Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and responding to employee questions.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date employee records in the HRIS and personnel files, ensuring compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
• Serve as a first point of contact for employee relations matters, escalating complex issues to HR leadership as needed.
• Support performance management processes, including tracking review cycles and assisting managers with documentation.
• Assist with interpreting and consistently applying HR policies and the employee handbook.
• Help coordinate training and professional development initiatives.
• Assist with leave of absence administration (FMLA, ADA, etc.), unemployment claims, and workers' compensation reporting.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
• Support HR projects and initiatives such as engagement surveys, culture programs, and process improvements.

Special Knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Strong working knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, etc.).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport across all levels of the organization.
• High degree of discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive information.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative, service-oriented approach.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a Human Resources Generalist or related HR role preferred.

Liense and Certification:c

• PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification preferred but not required.

Duties involved require moving materials that weigh up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines. At times, bending, reaching, standing, and walking may be required.
