Role Purpose
We monitor key events and conduct research to produce thought-provoking reports, data models, and presentations. From asset valuation to corporate reports, from market supply-demand research to price-forecasting, and from the regional to the global, our analysis helps shape our customers’ commercial strategies.
We also support bespoke consulting projects, diving deeper into our data to answer unique questions. We help our Sales team retain and win new business by spending time with customers and answering questions that matter to them. We work closely with colleagues in our Data and Product functions to maintain the quality of our published data and to deliver content via our growing Lens platform.
Through carrying out primary research, responding to customer questions, and presenting to industry stakeholders, you will build relationships and a network of contacts at key operators, national bodies, and other relevant institutions. Over time you will gain specialist knowledge and develop the skills you require to progress your career at Wood Mackenzie.
Main Responsibilities
We are looking for a Research Associate to join our Gas & LNG research practice within the Commodities Global Analyst Team, based in Gurugram or Mumbai, India. The role will support the development of Wood Mackenzie’s views across global and regional Gas & LNG markets, with a particular focus on APAC gas markets and global LNG asset developments.
You will undertake detailed research and analysis across the Gas & LNG value chain, including gas and LNG supply and demand, consumption patterns, LNG supply and regasification projects, LNG contracts and shipping, market developments, and relevant macroeconomic trends. You will track and assess industry developments, identify key market drivers and risks, and translate data and industry intelligence into clear, insightful views on current market conditions and future market possibilities.
You will contribute to the development and maintenance of datasets, data models, methodologies and other intellectual property supporting our Gas & LNG research and products. This will include supporting the Global Gas Model, developing scenarios for how gas and LNG markets may evolve, and creating compelling visualizations and analysis to communicate our views.
You will contribute to regular research reports, global LNG outlooks, market insights, informs and webinars, working closely with regional analysts and subject matter experts across Gas & LNG, upstream and other relevant teams. You will be expected to build compelling narratives from researched and available data, articulate supply and demand views, and communicate short- and long-term market outlooks clearly to both internal and external audiences.
The role will also involve supporting client engagement by responding to client enquiries and ad hoc requests, participating in client discussions and presentations, and helping communicate Wood Mackenzie’s views and insights to customers and prospects. Through research trips, industry events and client interactions, you will develop an understanding of the key topics and challenges facing the Gas & LNG industry and incorporate these perspectives into our research.
You will be expected to operate autonomously while collaborating effectively across geographically dispersed teams. As you develop in the role, you will build deeper expertise across Gas & LNG markets and assets while strengthening your capabilities in research, data analysis, modelling, market intelligence, written and verbal communication, and client engagement.

About You :
A degree in a relevant discipline of energy or natural resources and a good understanding of how the commodities industry works.
Preferable experience of 1-3 years in market research on energy, natural resources or commodities.
A good understanding of the value chain, macroeconomic trends, supply/demand fundamentals, and energy transition would be advantageous.
You're comfortable collecting and interpreting data, articulating your findings clearly, and seeking to enhance your knowledge by asking thoughtful questions. You have experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, which helps you present your findings in a visually compelling way.
Good written and spoken English with the ability to clearly express your views by writing compelling narratives.
The ability to work as part of a team, achieving results and working effectively with colleagues in a collaborative manner.
Creative and innovative thinking; the ability to develop and contribute to new ideas.
Good organisation and planning skills, with the ability to manage your own workload.
