About Fitness & Lifestyle Group
Fitness & Lifestyle Group (FLG) is Asia Pacific's largest group of corporately owned health and wellness clubs — 310+ locations, 600,000+ members, and five of the region's most recognised fitness brands: Fitness First Australia, Goodlife Health Clubs, Jetts Fitness, Zap Fitness and Barry's.
We're headquartered in Australia with regional offices across South East Asia, and we're on a mission to help our global community live stronger, happier lives.
The Opportunity:
Group fitness is more than a timetable. It is a powerful driver of member engagement, retention, and commercial performance.
As Territory Group Fitness Manager (based from either our Sydney or Brisbane support office), you will help drive the performance and growth of group fitness across approximately 80 Fitness First and Goodlife Health clubs in our NSW and QLD portfolio.
Working through influence rather than direct line management, you will translate national strategy into territory priorities, use data and commercial insight to shape decisions, and work closely with Club Managers, Regional Managers, GFMs and Senior GFMs to drive performance.
You will be the key group fitness voice across the territory, building strong relationships, challenging thinking and creating the conditions for great programming, strong instructor teams and exceptional member experiences.
Usually working from our support office for three days per week (Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays), this is a mobile role with the remaining two days split between working from home and visiting clubs (dependent on business requirements).
Key Duties and Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
Commercial Performance
Own group fitness performance across approximately 80 clubs, with accountability for attendance, budget and member experience.
Use data and commercial insight to identify opportunities, address underperformance, and drive growth.
Lead the growth of key Platinum Plus products in line with territory and national targets.
Strategy & Programming
Translate national group fitness strategy into effective territory execution.
Set direction for programming, timetables, class mix and studio utilisation.
Lead new program trials and launches, ensuring the right capability and standards are in place.
Senior GFM Leadership
Lead, coach and develop the Senior Group Fitness Manager team to drive strong people and performance outcomes.
Set clear expectations and build capability across the team, ensuring Senior GFMs remain focused on their highest-value priorities.
Stakeholder Influence
Build strong relationships with Regional Managers and operational leaders, using data and commercial insight to influence priorities and investment.
Represent group fitness in territory planning and operational forums.
Partner with key functions including Marketing, Sales, People & Culture and the National GFM to support territory growth.
Quality & Compliance
Maintain high standards of group fitness delivery and member experience across the territory.
Ensure appropriate WHS and compliance standards are understood and maintained.
About you:
You are a resilient, commercially minded leader who knows how to get results through people, relationships and influence. You are confident operating at scale, comfortable with data and able to turn insight into action.
You build credibility quickly and know how to influence both directly and supportively. You can challenge when needed, coach others to perform and bring stakeholders with you. Most importantly, you are passionate about creating group fitness experiences that members choose, enjoy and return to.
Skills & Experience:
Essential
3 to 5 years' experience in group fitness leadership
Demonstrated experience in operational leadership positions
Demonstrated commercial acumen and experience managing performance across a multi-site or regional environment.
Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to achieve outcomes without direct line authority.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn performance data into clear actions.
Experience delivering group fitness, with a strong understanding of programming quality and member experience.
Strong communication, coaching and people leadership capability.
Certificate III in Fitness or equivalent.
Current AusActive registration or equivalent.
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Current driver's licence, own vehicle and willingness to travel extensively across the territory, including interstate travel at least quarterly.
Desirable:
Experience in a Senior GFM, regional or territory group fitness leadership role.
Experience managing budgets, forecasting and cost control across multiple sites.
Experience with premium fitness products/offerings
Experience with Workday, Power BI, Salesforce or similar operational and reporting platforms.
