Description
ALTERNATE CROSSING GUARD
The City of Moreno Valley is now hiring for multiple Part-time Temporary Alternate Crossing Guards in the Public Works Transportation Division!
Status: At-Will, Part-Time, Temporary Limited Term (up to 960 hours)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Shift times vary
THE OPPORTUNITYSchedule: Monday - Friday, Shift times vary
Under the supervision of the Crossing Guard Supervisor, this position will escort school children across streets; maintain order among children; and report suspicious persons who loiter near crossings, schools, and playgrounds. The position requires approximately 2-5 hours of work per day, divided into three shifts. An Alternate Crossing Guard is a temporary position and is not assigned a permanent post; the duties are otherwise the same.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal Part-Time Alternate Crossing Guard is dependable, attentive, and committed to pedestrian safety. They should be comfortable working outdoors, remain alert in changing traffic conditions, and communicate clearly and respectfully with children, drivers, staff, and the public.
Candidates should be able to follow safety procedures, use sound judgment, stay calm under pressure, and work independently. Reliability, punctuality, patience, and a strong commitment to community safety are essential. Prior experience working with children or in a public-facing role is a plus.
MINIMUM AND DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Equivalent to completion of the eighth grade. Experience that would indicate the ability to deal with the general public, especially children.
