Management Level:
P5SUMMARY: This position is responsible for managing strategic transportation network partnerships supporting all fresh and frozen shipments across the supply chain. The role oversees freight allocation, carrier contract management, rate negotiations, RFP support, equipment utilization, issue resolution, and continuous network optimization to ensure operational excellence and cost efficiency.
Key responsibilities include balancing transportation cost and service performance to maintain industry-leading on-time delivery while minimizing overall freight expense. The incumbent will optimize load assignments, maintain carrier lane commitments, maximize asset utilization, and identify opportunities to eliminate network inefficiencies. This role serves as a critical liaison between carriers, internal stakeholders, and customers to proactively resolve service disruptions, carrier performance issues, and delivery challenges.
The position operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment requiring the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while making data-driven decisions that support customer service, operational performance, and financial objectives. A significant portion of the role involves complex problem solving, cross-functional collaboration, and negotiation among internal teams, carriers, and customers to develop solutions that align with business goals and stakeholder needs.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective carrier partners.
- Leading carrier performance management initiatives and supporting business development plans.
- Driving continuous improvement efforts focused on transportation efficiency, service reliability, and cost reduction.
- Supporting Team Member development through coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
- Monitoring transportation trends, capacity constraints, and market conditions to inform network strategies.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, transportation regulations, and contractual obligations.
- Participating in after-hours, weekend, and emergency issue resolution as business needs require.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience: 3 plus years experience; refrigerated transportation preferred.
Computer Skills: Standard computer skills; knowledge of legacy applications.
Travel: 2-3 trips/yr
