This position is based in Plano, TX.

What you'll do:

Under direct supervision and with guidance from senior engineers and your mentor, your day will involve transforming complex data into predictive models, insights, intelligent models, and AI-powered solutions that accelerate business outcomes, improve member experiences, optimize operations, and enable data-driven decision making across USAA. The work will be aligned with USAA's technology strategy, potentially involving the use of AI tools and automation to enhance efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop predictive, prescriptive, and machine learning models to solve complex business problems
• Explore structured and unstructured datasets to uncover actionable insights
• Design experiments and evaluate model performance using statistical methods
• Develop and fine-tune AI and machine learning models to improve business outcomes
• Communicate analytic findings and recommendations to technical and executive audiences

To qualify, you must be pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university, and plan to graduate after the final day of the internship. Most of our interns participate in the summer between their junior and senior years. Our 2027 internship will start on June 2nd, 2027, and last through August 13, 2027.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

Anticipated graduation date between September 2027 and May 2028.

Foundational understanding of:

• Python and R
• Machine Learning Frameworks
• Statistical modeling and experimentation
• SQL and data querying
• Problem-solving and analytical thinking
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership through coursework, projects, student organizations, employment, or community involvement.

• Coursework or project experience involving software development.
• Understanding of Agile development concepts.
• Interest in AI-assisted development and emerging technologies.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $26.50 - $36. Interns will receive an intern stipend to assist with expenses.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the hourly range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual hourly rate for this role may vary by location.
