The IBM ODM Technical Lead will play a critical role in designing and delivering enterprise decision automation solutions that support key clinical, operational, and business processes.
This role will lead the architecture, development, governance, and modernization of IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM) platforms while collaborating across business, product, and engineering teams. The ideal candidate combines deep ODM expertise with a passion for modernization through microservices, cloud technologies, APIs, and emerging AI capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, development, implementation, and support of IBM ODM solutions, including Decision Center, Rule Execution Server (RES), BOM/XOM, decision tables, rule flows, and decision services.
- Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, and engineering teams to translate complex healthcare and business requirements into scalable decision automation solutions.
- Establish and govern ODM standards, best practices, rule lifecycle management, versioning, deployment, and operational support processes.
- Design and develop rule services that integrate seamlessly with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and enterprise applications.
- Drive modernization initiatives by evolving rule-based solutions toward API-first, cloud-ready, and microservices-based architectures.
- Lead technical design reviews, code reviews, root cause analysis, and performance optimization efforts across development and production environments.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, and deployment frameworks.
- Mentor and guide developers and engineers while fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Evaluate opportunities to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI, Intelligent Automation, and Decision Intelligence capabilities to enhance business decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Ensure solutions comply with enterprise architecture, security, performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 8-10+ years of software development experience with 5+ years of hands-on IBM ODM development and architecture experience.
- Strong expertise in IBM ODM Decision Center, Rule Execution Server (RES), Rule Designer, BOM/XOM, decision tables, and rule services.
- Strong Java development experience and enterprise application integration expertise.
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures.
- Experience leading technical teams and delivering complex enterprise solutions.
- Experience working within Agile delivery and DevOps environments.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Spring Boot, Microservices Architecture, Docker, Kubernetes, and API Management technologies.
- Experience with cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Exposure to AI/ML, Generative AI, Decision Intelligence, Predictive Analytics, or Intelligent Automation solutions.
- Experience with AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot and related developer productivity platforms.
- Familiarity with Kafka, event-driven architectures, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Experience in healthcare, payer, provider, revenue cycle, clinical workflow, or regulated business environments.
