Yahoo serves as a trusted guide for hundreds of millions of people globally, helping them achieve their goals online through our portfolio of iconic products. For advertisers, Yahoo Advertising offers omnichannel solutions and powerful data to engage with our brands and deliver results.

A Little Bit About Us

The DSP Finance team partners closely with Yahoo's Demand-Side Platform (DSP) business, providing the financial planning, forecasting, and analysis that help leaders make informed decisions. We work across finance and business functions to translate operational activity into financial insights that support growth, investment decisions, and long-term planning.

Our team is responsible for providing the financial visibility, rigor, and partnership needed to help the business scale efficiently. Whether supporting headcount planning, evaluating investments, improving forecasting accuracy, or managing global operating expenses, we play a critical role in helping leaders navigate a fast-moving global business environment.

Position Overview

Yahoo is seeking a Global Opex Finance Manager to join the DSP Finance team. In this highly visible role, you will own key components of the global operating expense planning process, including personnel costs, headcount, Travel & Entertainment (T&E), and Digital Services Taxes (DST), while partnering closely with business leaders to drive informed financial decisions.

This role combines financial planning and analysis, business partnership, and process improvement. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating independently, enjoys solving complex problems, and can translate financial and operational data into actionable insights that support decision-making across a dynamic global organization. We're looking for someone who embraces modern ways of working and is excited to leverage AI-enabled tools and automation to improve efficiency, accelerate analysis, and scale impact.

Candidates located on the East Coast are preferred to support collaboration across the global team.

What You'll Do

  • Own the end-to-end planning, forecasting, and ongoing management of key global operating expense categories, including personnel costs, headcount, Travel & Entertainment (T&E), and Digital Services Taxes (DST).
  • Serve as a trusted finance partner to business leaders, providing proactive financial guidance, challenging assumptions, identifying cost drivers, and supporting strategic decision-making.
  • Drive the monthly and quarterly close process, including accrual reviews, maintaining monthly accrual reporting, variance analysis, and resolution of financial discrepancies.
  • Deliver insightful variance commentary and financial analysis that clearly explains performance drivers, risks, opportunities, and emerging trends.
  • Leverage AI-enabled productivity tools and financial systems to streamline analysis, accelerate reporting, and improve planning efficiency.
  • Partner with data and reporting teams to automate manual reporting processes and enhance visibility through scalable dashboards and analytics.
  • Manage global headcount planning and tracking processes, working closely with HR, recruiting, and business operations teams to align hiring plans with financial forecasts.
  • Prepare and deliver business review presentations that clearly communicate financial performance, key drivers, risks, opportunities, and recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes across the organization.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, strategic finance, or a related analytical business partnering role.
  • Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills, including experience building, maintaining, auditing, and improving complex financial models.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize large datasets and translate financial and operational metrics into actionable business insights.
  • Experience supporting headcount planning, personnel cost forecasting, and operating expense management within a complex, global organization.
  • Experience partnering directly with business leaders and influencing decisions through data-driven financial analysis and recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels of the organization.
  • Experience leveraging modern analytics, automation, or AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and accelerate financial processes.
  • Experience building reporting solutions, dashboards, or data visualizations that improve business visibility and decision-making.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise planning tools such as Oracle Hyperion Planning, Essbase, or similar platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. MBA or Master's degree is a plus.

Why This Role Matters

Operating expenses are one of the most important levers in managing business performance and enabling sustainable growth. As the Global Opex Finance Manager, you will help drive the planning, visibility, and financial discipline needed to support Yahoo's DSP business as it continues to evolve and grow.

Your analysis, forecasting, and business partnership will directly influence resource allocation, hiring decisions, and investment priorities. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a critical area of finance, work closely with business leaders, and help shape the financial decisions that support the success of Yahoo's DSP organization. As the team continues to evolve, you'll also have the opportunity to help modernize how finance work gets done by leveraging AI and automation to drive greater efficiency, insight, and scale.
