Landscaper - Grounds Maintenance Technician

Our team at New Horizon Kennel is searching for a reliable, thorough, and detail-oriented person to join our Port Byron, IL team as a part-time or seasonal Landscaper - Grounds Maintenance Technician! THE BASICS

Pay: $18.00 – $22.00/hour

Schedule: We have seasonal and part-time positions available! You'll typically work during the day, Monday - Friday, with occasional nights or weekends as needed.

YOUR IMPACT AS OUR LANDSCAPER - GROUNDS MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

This is an active, hands-on role where you'll maintain the park-like environment at our pet care facility. You'll complete impressive, clean work as you use various equipment and machinery to perform timely turf and landscaping maintenance. As you maintain the outdoor spaces, you'll properly identify plants and care for them to support their health.

Outside of routine maintenance, you'll also assist with landscape design projects such as lawn edging or retaining walls as well as assist with seasonal duties like removing snow. Additionally, you'll help with general property maintenance and repairs as needed, which typically involves some carpentry or minor electrical work. Whether you join us in a seasonal or part-time position, the results of your hard work will be felt at all times!

LANDSCAPER - GROUNDS MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN REQUIREMENTS

• Working knowledge of plant identification and proper care
• Mechanical aptitude for operating and maintaining equipment
• Strong attention to detail, a professional attitude/appearance, and a solid work ethic
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing for extended periods and lifting 50+ lbs.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

While not required, 5+ years of professional landscaping experience would be preferred. Our ideal candidate also has some carpentry, electrical, and/or general repair skills.
