Senior Applications & Compliance Specialist
Department: Technology
Reports To: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Location: San Diego, CA (WFH), Regular in-person meetings with CTO
(Frequency/Location subject to business needs)
Summary:
Land Gorilla is the leading construction loan management ecosystem, trusted by the nation's top financial institutions—including banks, credit unions, and mortgage lenders—to manage billions in construction volume. We're a fast-growing FinTech company transforming an industry long weighed down by manual, spreadsheet-heavy processes, and playing a direct role in addressing the national housing shortage.
We are seeking a Senior Applications & Compliance Specialist to work directly alongside the CTO, helping design, build, and maintain the internal applications that power our platform—including the vendor inspections app, OneSite, CLM (Contract/Loan Management), and GOS—while also supporting our SOC compliance and audit efforts. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role for someone who can move fluidly between building and improving applications, researching new tools and approaches, and helping keep the company audit-ready. This is a remote-first role based in San Diego, with weekly in-person meetings required with the CTO.
Primary Duties: Building Internal Tools and Keeping Us Audit-Ready
As Senior Applications & Compliance Specialist, you will:
Application Development & Support
- Partner with the CTO to design, build, and maintain internal applications, including the vendor inspections app, OneSite, CLM, GOS, and other internal tools
- Direct and prioritize application development work, translating business needs into technical requirements
- Research new tools, platforms, and integrations to support application development and process improvement
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues within existing applications
- Support testing, documentation, and rollout of new features or applications
- SOC Compliance & Audit Support
- Maintain and organize SOC (System and Organization Controls) documentation, ensuring materials are accurate, current, and audit-ready
- Coordinate and support SOC audits, including gathering evidence, tracking requests, and liaising with auditors
- Monitor control adherence and flag gaps to support ongoing compliance efforts
- General
- Serve as a trusted, hands-on resource for the CTO across development, research, and compliance priorities
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion given exposure to sensitive systems, audit materials, and internal tools
- Proactively identify opportunities to streamline processes, documentation, and application workflows
Requirements
We're looking for a hands-on builder who is equally comfortable in the weeds of an application and in the details of an audit. The ideal candidate meets the following:
- Experience: 5+ years in application development, business systems/applications support, or a related technical role
- Technical Range: Experience building or supporting internal business applications (custom apps, low-code/no-code platforms, CRM/CLM systems, or similar)
- Compliance Background: Prior experience with SOC 2 (or similar) compliance documentation and audit support strongly preferred
- Research Skills: Comfortable evaluating new tools, platforms, and technical approaches independently
- Organization: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across development and compliance work
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
- Partnership: Comfortable working in close, ongoing partnership with executive leadership
- Location: Based in or able to commute to San Diego for weekly in-person meetings with the CTO
This job description is not exhaustive, and the job holder may be required to undertake additional duties from time to time to ensure the smooth running of the departments
BENEFITS:
- Health (+Dependent Coverage), Dental, and Vision Insurance Package
- 12 Observed Holidays
- Paid Time Off: Accrues up to 160 hours/ 20 days
- Paid Sick Leave: 40 hours
- 2 Floating Holidays
- Paid Family Leave
- 401(k) and Company Matching
Compensation: $88,000-$110,000/year, Full-time
The actual pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, and geographical location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
We are looking to hire a candidate who resides in the San Diego, CA area, given the weekly in-person meeting requirement with the CTO.
