PATH, with support from the Lilly Foundation, is implementing a school-based cardio-metabolic disease (CMD) prevention and management program across 200 government schools in Bhopal district, Madhya Pradesh, reaching children and adolescents aged 6–16 years over a three-year period (July 2026–June 2029). The program builds on existing government platforms Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) Health and Wellness Ambassadors, Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) screening teams, the UMANG adolescent counselling program, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs), and the National Programme for Prevention and Control of NCDs (NP-NCD) to deliver a structured continuum of care: school-based awareness and behavior change communication (BCC), screening and identification, counselling of at-risk students, treatment initiation, and follow-up. The project works closely with the District Education Officer, District Health Department, and state education and health authorities in Madhya Pradesh.

PATH is seeking two Public Health Coordinators to provide field-level technical and coordination support for the CMD prevention and management program in assigned schools/blocks within Bhopal district. The Public Health Coordinators will work closely with Health and Wellness Ambassadors, RBSK teams, UMANG counsellors, and AAM staff, reporting to the District Program Officer, and will play a central role in ensuring quality delivery, accurate data capture, and functional referral linkages on the ground.

Job Responsibilities:

School and Field Coordination

• Support day-to-day coordination with Health and Wellness Ambassadors, peer educators, RBSK screening teams, UMANG counsellors, and AAM staff in assigned schools.
• Assist schools in operationalizing Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) activities on nutrition, physical activity, tobacco/alcohol prevention, and health-seeking behavior, in line with school-level micro-plans.
• Support pre-testing, development and roll-out of IEC/BCC materials and themed health campaigns in schools.

Screening and Referral Support

• Support RBSK teams in standardized BMI screening of enrolled students, ensuring correct protocols and complete documentation.
• Track at-risk students identified through screening across the referral pathway from UMANG counselling to AAM assessment, to treatment initiation and follow-up flagging and helping resolve drop-offs.

Data Management and Reporting

• Maintain school-level and student-level program data, including screening registers, referral trackers, and counselling and treatment records.
• Support consolidation and quality checks of data reported into NP-NCD and RKSK digital platforms.
• Prepare periodic field reports and provide input for program monitoring reports and quarterly reviews.

Capacity Building Support

• Assist in organizing and co-facilitating training/orientation sessions for Health and Wellness Ambassadors, peer educators, and RBSK teams on CMD risk, screening, and referral processes.

Stakeholder Engagement and Other

• Maintain regular contact with school authorities, block-level education and health functionaries, and community stakeholders to support engagement and problem-solving.
• Undertake other tasks which may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
• Available to travel frequently to schools and health facilities within Bhopal district.

Required Experience and qualifications

• Graduate/Postgraduate degree in Public Health, Health Management, Nursing, Life Sciences, or a related field.
• Approximately 2–3 years of relevant field-level experience in public health, school health, adolescent health, or NCD programs, preferably in India.
• Experience working with government health or education frontline systems (RBSK, RKSK, ASHA/ANM networks, AAM/HWC, school health programs) preferred.
• Familiarity with BMI/anthropometric screening, basic NCD risk concepts, or adolescent counselling referral pathways is an advantage.

Skills/ Abilities

• Good knowledge of public health and school health program processes.
• Comfort with data collection, basic MIS/reporting tools, and maintaining accurate field records.
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with teachers, frontline health workers, and communities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in Hindi; working proficiency in English preferred.
• Self-starter, with the ability to work with a high degree of autonomy in line with project goals.
• Ability to multitask and work in a multi-cultural team.
• Willingness to travel frequently to schools and health facilities within Bhopal district.
