Presales Architect - Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

Role Overview

An established technology organisation is adding a senior Presales Architect to its expanding Business Central team. You will take ownership of complex customer opportunities, using your technical depth and commercial understanding to develop solutions that address genuine business challenges. This is a senior individual contributor position offering considerable autonomy, direct engagement with executive customers and the opportunity to influence how Business Central solutions are positioned in the market.

Working closely with Sales, Solution Architecture and Delivery, you will guide customers through discovery, product demonstrations and solution development. Your focus will be on understanding how organisations operate, identifying opportunities for improvement and presenting solutions that balance functionality, commercial value and delivery feasibility. You will engage with customers across the mid-market and enterprise sectors, navigating diverse operational requirements and stakeholder expectations.

Beyond individual customer engagements, you will contribute to the continued development of the Business Central practice. This includes improving pre-sales capability, supporting less experienced colleagues and identifying opportunities to incorporate emerging Microsoft technologies into broader customer solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead Business Central pre-sales opportunities, taking ownership of customer engagement from initial discovery through to solution and proposal development.
• Design and deliver engaging product demonstrations that connect Business Central functionality to customer processes and business outcomes.
• Assess how customers manage financials, warehousing, manufacturing, inventory, reporting and project operations, then define a suitable BC solution.
• Partner with Sales and Delivery teams to establish realistic solution scope, commercial assumptions and implementation approaches.
• Develop customer proposals, RFP/RFI submissions and supporting business cases that communicate clear commercial and operational value.
• Run workshops with operational leaders, executives and technical specialists to uncover constraints, priorities and solution options.
• Identify when Power Platform, Copilot, Azure services or integrations would improve the proposed BC solution.
• Provide commercial and technical input into solution estimates, pricing discussions and customer decision-making.
• Improve the consistency and effectiveness of pre-sales activities through reusable demonstration materials, proposal resources and solution frameworks.
• Mentor consultants, share technical knowledge and identify opportunities to expand customer relationships across the broader Microsoft ecosystem.

Candidate Profile

You bring substantial Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and/or Dynamics NAV experience, with the technical and functional expertise to independently design and present complex customer solutions. Approximately 15 years of relevant experience is the benchmark for the depth required, supported by a current Business Central certification. Your background includes senior pre-sales or solution architecture responsibilities, with demonstrated expertise across core financial management, inventory, distribution, projects, manufacturing and reporting.

You have proven experience managing the complete Business Central pre-sales lifecycle, including customer discovery, demonstrations, solution design, commercial inputs and proposal development. You communicate with confidence and clarity, adapting your approach to engage both technical specialists and executive decision-makers. Your commercial judgement allows you to identify what customers actually need, articulate the value of a proposed solution and establish credibility with stakeholders throughout the sales process.

You are naturally engaging, collaborative and comfortable taking ownership without requiring close supervision. You enjoy mentoring colleagues and bring the confidence to influence decisions while remaining open to different perspectives. Additional knowledge of Power Platform, Azure services, Microsoft integration technologies or Copilot will be highly regarded, as will a background in finance, accounting or broader business operations.
