Summary

This role supports the radiology portion of studies from start-up through closeout, including protocol review, feasibility assessment, protocol setup support, scanner and visit coordination, documentation, regulatory and IRB support, data management, and quality control. The position supports efficient MRI research operations by helping with protocol setup, education, review, workflow development, study-team guidance, resource coordination, and readiness of facilities, equipment, and staff to meet study requirements. The role also contributes to staff training, standard operating procedures, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration with clinical MRI operations to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable research imaging services.

Job Duties

• Coordinates radiology research imaging operations from study start-up through closeout, including protocol setup support, scanner and visit coordination, documentation, and operational follow-up.
• Leads review of radiology protocols for research projects, evaluates technical and operational feasibility, identifies scanner, staffing, safety, and workflow needs, and communicates findings and recommendations to principal investigators and study teams in a timely manner.
• Collaborates with MRI leadership, physicists, radiologists, technologists, nurses, and research teams to determine whether study requests are viable and to develop coordinated processes that support safe, efficient research imaging services.
• Maintains accurate study, subject, imaging, quality-control, and expense documentation; tracks activity and resource utilization; and ensures records are organized, current, and available for review.
• Performs MRI research patient scanning and setup approximately 10% of the time, applying certified MRI knowledge to support safe imaging, protocol compliance, participant preparation, and reliable image acquisition.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree Radiology Technology or related field
• 5 years of technical experience within MRI research (preferred) or operations in a hospital, academic medical center or clinical research setting required.
• ARMRIT - Registered Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist - American Registry of MRI Technologists or
• MR - Magnetic Resonance Imaging - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
• BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association and

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree

Additional Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Epic, PACs and research tracking tools. Must be able to support cross-functional communication, educate study teams on imaging workflows, assist with operational process improvement, and maintain organized records for audits, billing support, study start-up, and closeout activities.

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
