Lead Intervention Specialist

Description

The Lead Intervention Specialist provides instructional, compliance, and quality assurance leadership across all campuses with special education. This position is responsible for ensuring that special education services are delivered with fidelity, that Individualized Education Programs are accurate and legally compliant, that specially designed instruction is implemented effectively, and that all special education records, databases, and physical files are maintained in accordance with school, state, and federal expectations. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Provide quality assurance across all campuses to ensure consistent implementation of special education policies, procedures, timelines, and service expectations. 
• Provide quality control oversight for all special education departments, including review of documentation, service delivery, compliance practices, and corrective action needs. 
• Deliver specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with each student’s IEP, instructional needs, accommodations, and progress goals as needed. 
• Write, revise, and support the development of legally compliant IEPs that reflect accurate present levels, measurable goals, services, accommodations, transition needs, and progress monitoring expectations. 
• Ensure all physical special education files are complete, organized, up to date, and audit-ready. 
• Monitor special education databases to ensure student records, services, timelines, compliance documentation, progress reports, and required updates are current and accurate. 
• Oversee contractor invoices related to special education services by reviewing service documentation, verifying accuracy, and supporting timely approval processes. 
• Collaborate with campus leaders, intervention specialists, related service providers, contractors, families, and school teams to ensure students receive appropriate services and supports. 
• Identify compliance concerns, documentation issues, and service delivery risks, and communicate recommendations for resolution to leadership. 
• Support staff with special education procedures, documentation expectations, service implementation, and instructional best practices. 
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling student records, family communication, compliance matters, and internal department concerns. 

Campus Support and Oversight Expectations 

The Lead Intervention Specialist is expected to visit each campus at least once per month to review compliance practices, provide support to special education staff, observe service delivery as needed, review files and databases, and address campus-level needs. Additional visits may be required when staffing shortages, compliance concerns, corrective action items, parent concerns, student service issues, or department needs require increased support. 

Requirements

• Valid Intervention Specialist license or other appropriate special education credential. 
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field; master’s degree preferred. 
• Knowledge of special education laws, compliance requirements, IEP development, specially designed instruction, progress monitoring, and service documentation. 
• Experience writing and managing IEPs and supporting special education compliance systems. 
• Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. 
• Ability to travel between campuses on a regular basis.?
