Position Summary
We are seeking a full-time HR Compliance and Operations Specialist to join our Shared Services team. Reporting to the HR Operations Manager, this role provides operational and compliance support across employee services, onboarding, background checks, benefits, immigration, global mobility, and international HR operations.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, service-minded, and comfortable managing confidential information and multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment.
Key Responsibilities
HR Compliance

Support compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and international employment laws and regulations.

Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and recommend updates to HR policies and procedures.

Maintain accurate, current, and accessible compliance documentation.

Support employee handbook reviews and updates.

Conduct I-9 audits and support E-Verify and UK Right to Work processes.

Prepare compliance reports and collaborate with Legal, Payroll, HR, and other stakeholders to resolve compliance issues.
Employee Service Center
-
Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions related to HR policies, benefits, payroll, employment verification, immigration, and global mobility.

Manage or triage HR cases in ServiceNow in accordance with the company’s HR service model.

Draft employment and international travel support letters as needed.

Provide empathetic, timely, and accurate customer service to employees and leaders.
Onboarding and Background Checks

Support onboarding activities for full-time, campus, international, and project-based hires.
-
Review onboarding requirements and confirm that consultants meet qualifications for client assignments.

Coordinate background checks and screenings with external vendors.
-
Review background check reports in accordance with company policy and escalate concerns appropriately.

Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.

Support benefits orientation, I-9 processing, E-Verify, and related onboarding activities.
International HR and Global Mobility

Support HR operations for international employees and offices, including Costa Rica and the United Kingdom.

Support immigration policies, processes, and related employee requests.

Coordinate with immigration vendors, including Envoy, as appropriate.

Support L-1 Blanket Visa processes and research international travel requirements.

Provide backup HR Operations support to local leadership and employees in Costa Rica.
Benefits and HR Operations

Support benefits enrollments, changes, terminations, life events, open enrollment, and dependent verification.

Review benefits invoices, reconcile discrepancies, and partner with vendors and Payroll to resolve issues.

Respond to Tier 1 and Tier 2 benefits inquiries and escalate complex matters.

Run Workday reports and process HR Operations invoices.

Participate in HR system testing and support process improvements.

Prepare presentations, reports, and other materials for leadership and special projects.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
-
At least four years of Human Resources experience.

Knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment compliance in the United States and Costa Rica; experience with the United Kingdom is preferred.

Experience supporting onboarding, employee records, background checks, benefits, or HR compliance.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Spanish proficiency preferred.

Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
-
Ability to manage confidential information and prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, diversity, and openness to different perspectives.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Workday or another HRIS.

Experience with ServiceNow or another HR case-management platform.

Experience with DocuSign.

Experience supporting immigration, global mobility, benefits administration, or international HR operations.

Experience working with background screening, I-9, E-Verify, or Right to Work processes.
