JOB PURPOSE


As the Regional Head, Northern Region (Penang, Kedah and Perlis), you will serve as the Bank’s regional leader and custodian of its presence in the North. You will be the principal point of contact for clients across all business divisions, helping to coordinate their needs and strengthen relationships throughout the region.


In addition, as the Regional Head, Northern Region – Wholesale Banking (Corporate & Investment Banking), this remit will focus on developing corporate and investment banking relationships, identifying business opportunities, and working with the relevant teams to deliver solutions for clients in the Northern Region.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


Business Development & Revenue Growth

  • Lead the execution of business strategies and growth initiatives for the Northern Region corporate banking portfolio.
  • Identify, originate, and acquire new corporate relationships to expand the Bank's market share within key industries and sectors.
  • Drive revenue generation through lending, deposits, and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Develop strategic account plans for key clients and high-value relationships.
  • Monitor portfolio performance against approved business targets and implement corrective actions where necessary.

Relationship Management

  • Act as the senior relationship owner for strategic corporate customers within the Northern Region.
  • Ensure timely and effective delivery of banking solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Enhance customer satisfaction and deepen wallet share through proactive engagement and solution-based selling.

Portfolio & Risk Management

  • Maintain overall quality of the corporate banking portfolio through proactive monitoring and disciplined credit management.
  • Ensure credit proposals are appropriately assessed, structured, and aligned with the Bank's credit appetite and risk framework.
  • Monitor early warning signals, covenant compliance, and asset quality indicators.
  • Work closely with Credit Risk and relevant stakeholders to manage problem accounts and minimize credit losses.

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop relationship managers and support staff within the Northern Corporate Office.
  • Foster a high-performance and client-centric culture.
  • Ensure team members possess the necessary competencies and product knowledge to support business growth.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Transaction Banking, Treasury, Investment Banking, Credit Risk, Trade Finance, and other internal stakeholders to deliver integrated banking solutions.
  • Support strategic initiatives and transformation programmes undertaken by Group Corporate Banking.
  • Represent Group Corporate Banking in regional business engagements and management forums where required.

Governance, Compliance & Regulatory

  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, internal policies, and risk governance standards.
  • Uphold strong compliance culture and operational discipline across the team.
  • Ensure all business activities are conducted in accordance with the Bank's delegated authorities and governance framework.

JOB REQUIREMENTS


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Banking, Accounting or related discipline.
  • Professional banking qualifications would be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience in Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking, Relationship Management, or Wholesale Banking.
  • Proven track record in business development, portfolio management, and credit structuring.
  • Experience managing senior corporate relationships and leading banking teams.
  • Strong understanding of corporate banking products, credit risk assessment, and regulatory requirements.
