We are currently hiring a Sustainability Project Engineer to support sustainability focused construction projects for a public educational institution located in Los Angeles, CA. This position will provide technical and administrative support in the planning, design, procurement, construction, implementation, commissioning, and closeout of sustainability and energy-related capital improvement projects on behalf of the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD). Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Working under the direction of the Sustainability Strike Team Lead, this position assists in coordinating projects that advance the school district's sustainability initiatives to include Energy Information Systems (EIS), Building Management Systems (BMS), central plant optimization, LED lighting upgrades, energy efficiency retrofits, renewable energy systems, microgrids, electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, electrification, and other sustainability projects.
Provide technical and engineering support to the project managers and sustainability team throughout all phases of the project.
Support implementation of District sustainability initiatives including energy efficiency, electrification, renewable energy and carbon reduction strategies.
Coordinates with Project Managers, Architect, Engineers, Contractors and District Personnel to resolve technical issues and accurate responses to requests for information (RFIs).
Responsible for the maintenance and distribution of current contract plans and specifications.
Confirms contractor’s maintenance of record drawings prior to monthly progress payments to the Contractor.
Makes field checks on construction to determine compliance with job specifications and plans, established College standards, and Division of the State Architect (DSA) Requirements.
Documents progress of projects, logging photographs, daily project reports and notes as required.
Assists in preparing written materials including correspondence, reports, procedures, and guidelines.
Logs and tracks status of project change order proposals, field orders, and approved change orders.
Maintains project files and record drawings.
Logs and reviews submittals for conformance to plans and specifications.
Assists in coordinating and recording minutes of meetings with project stakeholders.
Assists in review of submittal procedures, RFI’s and monthly invoices.
Performs other project support duties as directed.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or related field required.
Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a similar or equivalent position involved in project or construction management of commercial, public, or educational facility construction projects with values in excess of $15M.
Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes is preferred.

The salary range for this full-time role is $84,400.00-$112,533.35 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
