 ROLE SUMMARY

You will define and integrate portfolio strategy, evidence generation priorities, medical analytics, and digital innovation across the International Vaccines Medical Affairs organization.

You will serve as the primary strategic partner to the VP, International Vaccines Medical Affairs Lead, helping transform Medical Affairs into a more data-driven, insight-led, and AI-enabled organization. You will provide portfolio-wide leadership across inline and pipeline vaccine assets, aligning Global Medical strategies with International market needs, evidence generation, organizational priorities, and public health objectives.

You will establish governance frameworks for portfolio prioritization, resource allocation, evidence investments, performance monitoring, and innovation initiatives while leveraging AI, advanced analytics, and digital capabilities to strengthen organizational effectiveness and scientific impact.

As a member of the International Medical Leadership Team, you will drive strategic planning, portfolio excellence, organizational transformation, predictive insights, and adoption of future-state Medical Affairs capabilities to maximize patient, stakeholder, and public health outcomes across International Developed Markets and Emerging Markets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Portfolio Leadership and Governance

  • Help the development, integration, and execution of International Vaccines Medical Affairs strategy across all inline and pipeline vaccine assets.

  • Collaborate with the establish portfolio governance mechanisms supporting prioritization of countries, assets, medical investments, evidence generation activities, and organizational resources.

  • Drive long-range portfolio planning, including annual operating plans, multi-year strategy development, risk assessments, scenario planning, and investment prioritization.

  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership regarding portfolio opportunities, scientific priorities, evidence-generation investments, organizational design, and future capability development.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the VP, International Vaccines Medical Affairs Lead and support executive-level decision making through data-driven portfolio insights and performance reviews..

Evidence Generation Strategy and Scientific Insights

  • Help the development of an integrated International Evidence Generation strategy across all vaccine assets.

  • Identify and prioritize evidence gaps across burden of disease, vaccine effectiveness, epidemiology, safety, health outcomes, implementation science, health systems research, and public health value.

  • Partner with Global Medical Affairs, Epidemiology, Real World Evidence, Clinical Research, and Commercial colleagues to optimize evidence-generation investments and maximize scientific impact.

  • Establish evidence-generation governance processes and lead prioritization of epidemiological, observational, effectiveness, outcomes research, and policy-focused studies.

  • Ensure evidence generated across International markets supports vaccine recommendations, policy development, product differentiation, market access activities, and public health decision making.

Medical Analytics and Performance Excellence

  • Develop and implement portfolio-wide performance measurement frameworks and executive dashboards that track medical impact, operational execution, evidence-generation outcomes, and strategic objective achievement.

  • Integrate epidemiological data, healthcare system information, public health trends, scientific intelligence, market dynamics, and competitive insights into portfolio planning processes.

  • Help the development of predictive analytics models supporting resource allocation, portfolio prioritization, launch readiness, evidence planning, and strategic decision making.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve organizational effectiveness, transparency, accountability, and performance across International Medical Affairs.

  • Support executive reviews through generation of integrated scientific, strategic, operational, and portfolio insights.

AI-Enabled Medical Affairs and Digital Transformation

  • Develop and implement a multi-year vision for AI-enabled Medical Affairs across the International Vaccines organization.

  • Identify opportunities to leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, advanced analytics, automation technologies, and digital innovation to improve scientific decision making, evidence generation, organizational productivity, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Establish governance frameworks ensuring responsible, compliant, transparent, and ethical application of artificial intelligence technologies within Medical Affairs activities.

  • Partner with Digital, Data Science, Information Technology, Medical Excellence, and external innovation partners to pilot and scale emerging capabilities.

  • Develop organizational AI literacy and digital capabilities through training, change management, and capability-building initiatives.

  • Evaluate and implement technologies that improve efficiency, accelerate scientific insight generation, strengthen knowledge management, and simplify complex medical processes.

  • Position International Vaccines Medical Affairs as a leading example of AI-enabled scientific excellence within Pfizer.

Organizational Excellence and Transformation

  • Lead initiatives that strengthen organizational effectiveness, agility, and execution quality across the International Medical Affairs organization.

  • Develop frameworks supporting workforce planning, future capability development, organizational health, and talent strategies.

  • Identify opportunities for process simplification, operating model optimization, and automation of repetitive medical activities.

  • Support implementation of innovative ways of working that enhance collaboration, efficiency, knowledge sharing, and medical impact.

  • Partner with senior leaders to drive transformation initiatives that support the future evolution of International Medical Affairs.

Cross-Functional Leadership and Influence

  • Build strong strategic partnerships across Medical Affairs, Global Medical Affairs, Epidemiology, Evidence Generation, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, Health Economics, Commercial, Government Affairs, Public Affairs, and Digital organizations.

  • Represent International Medical Affairs in global governance forums, portfolio reviews, and strategic planning discussions.

  • Influence senior stakeholders without direct authority and drive alignment across complex matrix environments.

  • Lead high-impact strategic initiatives requiring coordination of multiple functions, geographies, and leadership teams.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • MD and a minimum of 5 years of related Vaccines Medical Affairs experience

  • Experience developing and executing global or international medical strategies.

  • Strong knowledge of vaccines, public health, epidemiology, evidence generation, and healthcare systems.

  • Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives.

  • Experience assessing and interpreting complex clinical, epidemiological, scientific, operational, and business data.

  • Strong understanding of artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation technologies, and data science applications within healthcare and pharmaceutical organizations.  Requirement?

  • Excellent communication, executive presentation, and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience operating successfully within highly matrixed international organizations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience supporting global or international vaccine portfolios.

  • Experience leading evidence generation strategy and governance processes.

  • Experience in epidemiology, real world evidence, outcomes research, or advanced analytics.

  • Demonstrated success leading digital transformation initiatives.

  • Experience implementing AI-enabled solutions that improved organizational effectiveness, scientific insight generation, evidence planning, or decision making.

  • Experience leading organizational change management programs.

  • Strong publication record and scientific credibility.

WORK LOCATION ASSIGNMENT: This is a hybrid role requiring you to live within commuting distance and work on-site an average of 2.5 days per week.


 

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $254,100.00 to $423,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
