POSITION : TOOLMAKER

REPORTING TO : TOOLROOM SUPERVISOR

PURPOSE : Responsible for development, maintenance, repair, & improvement of all tools, dies, jigs and fixtures in line with business objectives, production requirements and customer quality standards.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Toolmaker, reporting to the Toolroom

Maintenance Supervisor, to join our press shop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of press tools and dies to ensure optimal production performance, safety, quality, and uptime.

Key Responsibilities include:

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on press tools, dies, and associated tooling

Diagnose and repair tooling faults to minimize downtime

Strip, inspect, refurbish, and reassemble press tools

Ensure tooling complies with quality and safety standards

Carry out tool modifications and improvements to enhance performance and reliability of tools

Work closely with production, maintenance and quality teams to resolve tooling related issues

Maintain accurate tool history and maintenance records in OEE system

Support new tool trials, setups, and commissioning when required

Ensure adherence to housekeeping and safety practices in the production and

toolroom environment

Actively participate in all assigned projects

Active involvement in continuous improvement activities

Active involvement in safety – e.g., ensure risk assessments are available, read

and understood for each activity undertaken & promote environmental issues –

ensure all company procedures related to the environment are understood and

followed. Ensure a safe working environment exists for self and colleagues –

compliance to all legislation & procedures.

Lead and train/support technicians or trainees in your work group

Minimum Requirements:

Qualified Toolmaker with recognized trade test certificate

Minimum 5–10 years' post apprenticeship experience in a press shop

Extensive knowledge of press tools and dies including blanking, forming, manual transfer tools and high-speed progression transfer tools. Knowledge of stainless- steel pressings would be advantageous

Ability to read and interpret technical part drawings, dimensional reports and CAD designs

Experience in manual machining (lathe, milling, grinding) and repair welding

Basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems would be advantageous
