Why this role matters
We’re known for our data. You’ll help us turn it into technology that teams and clients can rely on.
At Kantar, technology plays a critical role in how we deliver trusted insights to the world’s leading brands. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll help build and evolve the core backend services that power our internal platforms, enabling teams across the business to access accurate, timely, and scalable data.
You’ll work on backend systems that need to be dependable and easy to evolve, collaborating closely with product managers and fellow engineers to deliver APIs that are well‑designed, performant, and built with long‑term quality in mind. This is a role where you’ll combine hands‑on engineering with collaboration and influence, shaping both the solutions you build and how the team builds them.
What you’ll be doing
Designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript
Developing robust APIs that support our internal platforms and reporting needs
Working closely with product and engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver reliable solutions
Ensuring data is accurate, consistent, and scalable through effective database integrations
Contributing to code quality, performance, and practical engineering standards across the team
The skills and experience you’ll bring
Strong experience building backend services using Node.js and TypeScript
Confidence working with databases such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB, and ORMs like Prisma or Sequelize
Experience designing and maintaining APIs (REST and/or GraphQL)
An understanding of how to build secure, reliable backend systems
Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem‑solving
Nice to have (but not essential):
Experience with authentication and security concepts
Familiarity with event‑driven systems or messaging tools
Exposure to testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, or cloud platforms
What’s in it for you
On top of all your normal benefits like holiday, meal cards and life assurance, we also offer:
Five days of Life Leave per year; for those days when life just…gets in the way.
Birthday leave – one extra day of holiday taken on the nearest workday to your birthday
Two days a year to give back and volunteer with an organisation of your choice.
Enhanced primary and secondary carer leave for however you choose to grow your family.
The chance to hit the beach on your lunch break (yes, we have somewhere you can store your surfboard!)
Please be aware, the majority of our roles are hybrid, working three days a week in our office.
We’re not able to offer visa sponsorship or help with relocation support for this role. Please make sure you’ve got the right to work in the country where this role is located before applying.
What part of Kantar might I be joining?
You’ll be joining our Profiles division, home to specialists in survey design, sampling and data science. With the world’s largest audience network (over 170 million people), we’re trusted by many of the worlds leading brands to provide amazing insights from real people.
