Overview

 

This exempt, onsite role is located at the Friendship Ambulatory Surgery Center, in Chevy Chase, MD, which is part of Prism Vision Group.

 

Compensation Range: $105,694.09 - $219,518.50/Annual (Dependent on Experience)

 

The ASC Administrator is accountable for the overall administration and organization of the facility. This includes planning, directing, and overseeing all functions and activities associated with all Regulatory bodies, Licensing, Clinical Activities, Quality Activities, Committees, Infection Control, Surgical Scheduling, Physician credentialing. Many of the administrative roles are interchangeable or overlap with the Director of Nursing.

Supervisory Relationships: Reports to the Sr. Director of ASC

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Patient & Family Satisfaction is consistently monitored and appropriate corrective actions are taken when necessary.

• Quality of patient care is regularly evaluated and appropriate corrective actions are taken when necessary.

• Direct patient care performed when necessary within scope of practice.

• Physician Satisfaction is consistently monitored and appropriate corrective actions are taken when necessary.

• Nursing care is coordinated and integrated with all patient care service lines to provide a continuum of care for the patient in the most efficient manner.

• Policies and Procedures consistent with the centers philosophy are developed, implemented, revised, and reviewed on an annual basis at a minimum, in collaboration with the Governing Body.

• Manpower planning and usage are monitored on a frequent basis and adjusted effectively in response to workload, staffing levels, and fluctuations in patient census.

• Staff turnover due to factors within facility control is maintained at 20% or less annually.

• Performance of staff is consistently monitored and documented, utilizing appropriate recognition or disciplinary action as necessary.

• Creates and maintains all meeting minutes pertaining to the facility.

• Plans, facilitates, and monitors all clinical performance standards

• Ensures compliance with CMS conditions of participation

• Ensures compliance with all State Licensure requirements

• Ensures compliance with accreditation standards (AAAHC)

• Aids in the planning and execution of the Governing Board Committee agendas, meetings, follow ups, and reports.

• Ensures that only qualified physicians and staff are appropriately credentialed to work at the facility through a thorough review of applications, references, and verifications as designated by facility procedures and medical staff by-laws.

• Demonstrates continuous competency in the business management of the facility:

  • Meets established financial objectives and benchmarks
  • Utilizes all available information systems effectively to manage the schedule for efficiency
  • Interacts frequently with all members of the management and clinical teams
  • Is present whenever patient care is provided
  • Provides case costing information as requested
  • Supports the DON in his/her daily responsibilities
  • Maintains accountability for benchmarking and short/longs range planning for the facility to meet all goals and objectives.

• Works with the DON on all HR responsibilities

• Coordinates with building management for the receipt of required life safety reports.

• Provides patient care when necessary within scope of practice if a licensed RN.

• Maintains standards of nursing care and acts as a patient advocate if a licensed RN.

• Ensures the provision of all durable goods necessary to provide safe patient care.

• Communicates and maintains a positive, caring attitude to all patients, peers, staff, and all other contacts.

• Seeks guidance, directions, and assistance where needed.

• Completes all required local, state, federal, and accreditory reporting.

• Adheres to all center policies and procedures.

• Knowledge of Privacy Practices & Patient Bill of Rights.

• Maintains knowledge of Infection Control & OSHA standards of practice.

• Knowledge of centers Policies & Procedures.

• Other duties as assigned by the governing body.

Non-Essential Job Functions:

Able to perform any reasonable work request that falls within the qualifications but not specifically described.

Qualifications

Qualification/Certifications/Licenses:

• Graduate of an Accredited Registered Nurse Program• Current unrestricted State of Maryland Nursing License• Current BLS, ACLS certification• Must have a minimum of 3 years ambulatory surgery center experience.• Must be detail oriented and well organized• Must be able to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently while maintaining a professional and courteous manner.• Must be able to handle patient, employee, or visitor conflicts in a positive manner.• Must be able to address patient and public inquiries with poise and efficiency.• Requires above average ability to recognize and solve errors/problems. • Must possess extensive knowledge of local, federal, and accreditory standards & regulations. • Must always demonstrate customer service techniques. • Must have strong computer skills.

Working Conditions:

Environment: This position is located in an Ambulatory Surgery Center.

 

Physical Demands: This position requires extensive mobility, walking, and standing. Most of the days work involves pushing, pulling, and lifting patients or equipment. There is a potential exposure to patients with communicable diseases and/or blood borne pathogens.Job Specifications:
