Description

Role Purpose

Support Financial Crime Surveillance by managing Law Enforcement Agency (LEA) requests and conducting investigations into potentially suspicious activities. The role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, timely handling of law enforcement requests, accurate documentation, and preparation of Internal Suspicious Transaction Reports (INSTR) arising from transaction monitoring and investigative reviews. Role also includes process improvement project lead or support, as part of automation and agentic AI build.

Key Responsibilities

1. Law Enforcement Agency (LEA) Request Management

Manage the end-to-end handling of LEA requests received via the Electronic Financial Surveillance Application (EFSA), FINS, email, and other ad hoc channels, ensuring timely execution and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key duties include:

  • Receive and review LEA requests submitted through EFSA, FINS, email, and other approved channels.
  • Validate the authenticity, scope, and requirements of requests against regulatory and internal policy obligations.
  • Record and maintain accurate request details and supporting documentation for audit trail purposes.
  • Conduct customer information searches, account reviews, and disclosure-related activities in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Prepare and submit responses, information disclosures, and status updates to relevant law enforcement authorities within stipulated timelines.
  • Monitor requests through to closure and ensure proper documentation retention.
  • Manage multiple requests concurrently while meeting regulatory turnaround times and service standards.

2. Internal Suspicious Transaction Reporting (INSTR)

Identify, assess, investigate, and document potentially suspicious activities in a timely and accurate manner through transaction reviews and investigative analysis.

Key duties include:

  • Review escalated alerts and unusual customer activities identified through transaction monitoring systems and internal referrals.
  • Conduct investigations by gathering and analyzing relevant customer, account, and transactional information.
  • Assess potential money laundering, fraud, sanctions, or other financial crime risks based on available evidence.
  • Document investigative findings accurately and maintain complete records of investigative actions taken.
  • Prepare comprehensive Internal Suspicious Transaction Reports (INSTR) with clear rationale, supporting evidence, and recommendations.
  • Escalate potentially suspicious cases to designated reviewers or stakeholders for further assessment and decision-making.
  • Ensure investigations and reporting activities are performed in accordance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and established procedures.

3. Analytics and Projects

  • Provide analytics and insights on surveillance outcomes of the bank
  • Support requests by regulators or other authorities
  • Lead or support, depending on the need of the project, where transaction monitoring/ any surveillance activities is expected
  • Lead automation or agentic AI projects in surveillance, to increase productivity and efficiency of the team.

Key Requirements

  • Experience in Financial Crime Compliance, AML/CFT, Fraud Investigations, Transaction Monitoring, KYC/CDD, or related operational compliance functions.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and apply them in operational processes.
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict regulatory deadlines.
  • Proficiency in documentation, report writing, and stakeholder management.

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to LEA request handling, regulatory disclosures, or law enforcement engagement.
  • Experience reviewing transaction monitoring alerts and preparing suspicious activity reports.
  • Banking, financial services, fintech, or financial crime compliance background preferred.
