System Engineer A dynamic and growing company within the energy and technology sector is seeking a technically strong Systems Engineer to join its team in Bellville, Cape Town. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for implementing and optimising systems that enable data integration and IoT-based monitoring across various client environments. Projects will range from CAPEX implementations to monitoring initiatives aimed at improving operational and energy efficiency. This is a hands-on, project-focused role requiring strong analytical ability, technical problem-solving skills and the ability to successfully deliver multiple projects within strict timelines and budgets. Responsibilities: • Initiate, plan and execute system integration and IoT projects. • Implement systems that enable effective data collection, integration and monitoring. • Manage projects according to agreed timelines, budgets and governance requirements. • Support CAPEX implementation and monitoring initiatives aimed at improving efficiency. • Optimise existing systems and processes to support scalability and improved performance. • Conduct research and development on new IoT technologies and their integration into existing infrastructure. • Assist internal teams with technical data and insights for detailed client tender proposals. • Provide technical input regarding mechanical and electrical monitoring equipment. • Conduct root cause analysis to support maintenance and system resolutions. • Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation. • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and relevant stakeholders. • Travel to client sites and assist with on-site system implementation when required. Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering. • Minimum of 2 years experience in systems integration and/or IoT systems. • Practical understanding of IoT technology and system integration. • Strong technical understanding of systems based on first principles. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and MS Project. • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. • High attention to detail, accuracy and quality assurance. • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines. • Willingness to travel and support on-site implementations. Advantageous Experience • SQL databases. • API knowledge and integration. • Control logic. • Data flow architecture. • Tridium and/or SCADA systems. • Basic financial analysis. • Exposure to mechanical and electrical monitoring equipment.
