Position Summary
Delta Fuel is seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined Service Technician to join our team in Lake Charles, LA. This position is responsible for field service, maintenance, repair, welding, and installation activities involving fuel storage and dispensing equipment, fuel tanks, piping systems, and commercial vehicles.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who can work independently, safely diagnose equipment issues, and complete repairs with minimal supervision. This position will work both in the field and in the truck shop and will interact regularly with customers, supervisors, and fellow employees.
The Service Technician will also participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including nights and weekends, to respond to service and maintenance needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Fuel Tank & Field Service
- Assess, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair fuel pumps and associated fuel system equipment.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on fuel tanks, pumps, valves, monitors, piping, and related equipment.
- Disassemble and reassemble piping, valves, monitors, pumps, and other tank components as required for maintenance, repair, or replacement.
- Assist with the installation of onsite fuel tank secondary containment systems and related equipment.
- Prepare and paint fuel tanks and associated equipment as needed.
- Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and metal repairs as required for equipment maintenance and field projects.
- Perform equipment inspections and identify potential maintenance or safety issues.
- Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles safely at customer locations and job sites.
- Work in industrial and oilfield environments while following all applicable safety procedures and customer requirements.
Commercial Truck & Trailer Maintenance
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) services on medium- and heavy-duty commercial trucks and trailers.
- Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, and other issues.
- Diagnose problems that may cause a vehicle or piece of equipment to be inoperable or unsafe to operate.
- Assist with repairs and troubleshooting of trucks, trailers, and related equipment in the shop and in the field.
- Perform welding and fabrication repairs on trucks, trailers, and equipment when required.
- Assist with roadside service calls when needed.
- Assist other technicians and shop personnel with maintenance and repair activities.
General Responsibilities

- Safely use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, cutting equipment, diagnostic equipment, and other equipment necessary to perform assigned work.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for nights and weekends.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license with a clean or acceptable driving record.
- Previous experience in an industrial, oilfield, fleet maintenance, welding, or mechanical environment preferred.
- Commercial truck maintenance experience preferred.
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions, safety procedures, and equipment documentation.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to be resourceful with limited supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and customers.
- Must be dependable, punctual, disciplined, and capable of managing time effectively.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and participate in a rotating night and weekend on-call schedule.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical, reference checks, drug screen, motor vehicle report, and criminal background check.
- Ability to routinely lift and carry 50–100 pounds.
- Ability to safely climb ladders and work at elevated heights.
- Ability to safely walk on top of truck tanks and work around fuel storage tanks and equipment.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work in industrial, oilfield, and customer job-site environments.
- Ability to safely perform welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication activities.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and respond to emergency service calls as part of the rotating on-call schedule.
- Must be able to safely use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other equipment required to perform the job.
