You will manage the delivery of all Health & Safety activities in a manufacturing facility or commercial areas (offices, Sales, Warehouses), including standards & procedures, capability processes, reporting, compliance and audit.  That means you will define and review standards and legislation applicable to site, validate design for Health & Safety into projects and modifications, and support defined work processes to improve Health & Safety application and effectiveness. How you will contribute

You will:

  • Co-ordinate implementation of all H&S programs and processes. Prepare and build consensus annual plans for facility/function wide H&S initiatives
  • Plan/Budget/Control annual capital budget for H&S to enable execution of the H&S plan and adherence to all internal and external compliance standards
  • Provide H&S expertise for the facility/function for all new projects and change management activities
  • Ensure appropriate risk assessments are conducted and follow ups implemented to minimize or eliminate accidents, asset losses that might cause harm to one of the company’s employees, contractors, visitors
  • Ensure that the appropriate talent is in place through training, mentoring, and succession planning and supports development and learning capabilities of Safety specialists
  • Ensure the facility standards are in compliance with both Company and governmental/community regulations
  • Ensure training and coaching are taking place to drive a safety-perfect culture and to ensure safety standards and awareness are well understood throughout the plant organization

You will provide technical leadership, shape the SSA Safety strategy, ensure rigorous compliance with local and corporate requirements, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with business leaders to protect our people and continuously improve safety performance. Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership & Governance

  • Lead the implementation of the SSA Safety strategy across Manufacturing and Commercial operations.
  • Partner with Business Unit and Site Leadership Teams to embed safety into business and operational priorities.
  • Guide and support Site HSE teams through effective governance and technical expertise.
  • Review safety performance with site leadership and support delivery of agreed improvement plans.
  • Manage and priorities the HSE budget within the SSA Business Unit, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
  • Engage external stakeholders including regulatory authorities, insurers, and third-party auditors to maintain compliance and best-practice alignment.

Operational Safety & Risk Management

  • Support sites in identifying and managing operational risks through Risk Assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Permit to Work and Management of Change (MOC).
  • Provide technical support on Machine Guarding / LOTO, contractor safety, electrical safety and other PSM standards.
  • Work with Engineering and Operations to reduce operational risks through practical and sustainable solutions.
  • Lead and coordinate emergency preparedness planning, crisis management, and business continuity activities from a safety perspective.

Process Safety Management

  • Lead the SSA Process Safety Management (PSM) across all manufacturing sites.
  • Maintain implementation of Mondelēz Process Safety standards and governance requirements.
  • Support sites in identifying and reducing process safety risks.
  • Ensure Process Safety requirements are considered during projects, engineering changes and equipment modifications.
  • Monitor Process Safety performance and share lessons learned across the Business Unit.

Incident Management & Learning

  • Ensure incidents, near misses and high-potential events are reported and investigated in line with Mondelēz requirements.
  • Verify completion of corrective actions and share learnings across sites.
  • Ensure regulatory reporting obligations to relevant government bodies and occupational health authorities across SSA markets, ensuring timely and accurate submissions in compliance with local legislation.

Safety Culture & Capability

  • Support leaders in building a strong safety culture across the Business Unit.
  • Coach Site Leadership Teams and Site HSE Leads to strengthen safety capability.
  • Coordinate safety training and awareness activities to meet business and legal requirements.

 

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor Business Unit safety performance using leading and lagging indicators.
  • Review trends, identify priorities and follow up improvement actions with site teams.
  • Encourage sharing of good practices across manufacturing sites and commercial offices.
  • Champion the adoption of digital safety management platforms (e.g. Enablon, Intelex, or equivalent) and data-driven reporting to enhance visibility and decision-making.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science or a related discipline.
  • NEBOSH, OSHA or an equivalent professional Health & Safety qualification.

Experience

  • 7+ years of Health & Safety experience within manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting multiple manufacturing sites simultaneously.
  • Experience in Process Safety Management.
  • Experience working with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Preferred: Experience in FMCG or food manufacturing environments.

Technical Knowledge

  • Process Safety Management frameworks and tools.
  • Risk Assessment, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
  • Machine Guarding / LOTO, Contractor Safety, Electrical Safety and High-Risk Work standards.
  • Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements across SSA.
  • Digital safety management platforms (e.g. Enablon, Intelex, or equivalent software systems).
