Description

Under the close supervision of the Regional Managers, will perform general duties to support branch operations and library initiatives, such as shelving, support of programming and outreach endeavors.  
  1. Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing Library programs and special projects.
  2. Shelve, shelf-read, and merchandise library materials.
  3. Check books, periodicals, audio visual equipment, and other library material for damage.
  4. Assist patrons with basic library questions (find collections, use the catalog, print materials/use copy machine, and direct patron to other staff members for account questions).
  5. Assist patrons with computers in the e-gaming lab (orientation and support)
  6. Assist librarian in promoting KDL services at outreach events and programs.
  7. May perform other duties as assigned.
  1. Must be currently enrolled in good standing at Kelloggsville High School. 
  2. Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to deal with the coworkers and patrons in a courteous and cooperative manner.  Bilingual (English/Spanish, English/Vietnamese, English/French) preferred.
  3. Physical agility to push/pull fully loaded book carts/trucks weighing up to 150 pounds, retrieve or place materials above shoulder or below knee level, and lift/carry materials/furniture weighing up to 40 pounds. 
  4. Ability to work with close supervision and adhere to established policies and procedures.
  5. Ability to follow oral and written directions. 
  6. Ability to learn library book shelving system and sort/file materials alphabetically.
  7. Access to reliable transportation to and from work.    
  8. Visual acuity required to accurately read written materials.
  9. Ability to obtain and abide by parameters of Michigan Work Permit prior to start date of employment.
