Description
Advise the Department of Family and Protective Services caseworkers as to what legal action is appropriate regarding children who have been abused and neglected. Evaluate, file, and prosecute CPS cases from intake to trial and beyond. Prepare for and handle emergency removals, adversary hearings, termination of parental rights, permanency hearings, and other hearings independently. Manage all aspects of pending litigation including but not limited to: drafting pleadings and orders, conducting legal research, completing discovery, and representing the Department at all assigned hearings and trials. On-call for staffing of emergency removals Uphold the highest ethical standards in all actions and decisions.
Currently licensed to practice law in the State of Texas J.D. from an accredited law school and a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university Over 3 years of relevant legal experience preferred (prosecutorial experience preferred) Strong knowledge of law enforcement procedures and court operations Applicants should have civil trial experience
