Summary
Efficiently manage the procurement of raw materials and components required for the introduction of new products (NPI), ensuring their availability in the required timing, quantities, cost, and established quality standards, from the initial stages of the project through the start of mass production.
The position will be responsible for coordinating with suppliers, Engineering, Quality, Planning, Production, Logistics, and Finance to ensure a smooth transition of materials from the development phase to production.
Key Responsibilities and Main Activities:
· Identify and evaluate potential raw material suppliers.
· Negotiate prices, terms and conditions with suppliers.
· Placing orders and ensuring timely delivery of materials.
· Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
· Evaluate supplier performance and provide feedback to the purchasing team, as well as manage temporary contracts for purchases below pre-established purchase minimums from previous negotiations.
· Work closely with product development and engineering teams to understand material needs.
· Collaborate with the quality team to ensure materials meet required specifications.
· Coordinate with the logistics department for the reception and storage of materials.
· Monitor and manage raw material inventory levels.
· Conduct market research to identify trends and savings opportunities.
· Analyze costs and develop strategies to reduce the total cost of acquisition.
· Prepare reports and presentations on procurement performance and cost savings.
· Keep the area in control, identify process improvements, application of 6's and standardization of work.
