POSITION SUMMARY
The Seasonal Retail Associate will provide outstanding customer service to customers during the busy holiday season. The Seasonal Retail Associate will process sales transactions, answer guest questions on products and assist with merchandise selection. The Seasonal Retail Associate will provide an outstanding visitor experience for our guests in the museum store. We are looking for seasonal help to commit to two shifts per week, ideally one weekday and one weekend day.
- Reports to Museum Store Manager
- Compensation: $17.00/hour
- Classified: Non-Exempt
- Hourly at 15-25 hours per week
- Onsite work
- Schedule: 1 weekday and one weekend day during museum hours 9:45 am - 4:15 pm.
- Training shifts available in October
- Holiday season shifts begin November 6 through December 31

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Welcome all customers, provide information on products, answer questions and assist with merchandise selection in the Museum store as well as the Jul Shop which is open during the Christmas season.
- Process sales transactions, restock inventory, and provide outstanding customer service to ASI shoppers.
- Operate POS and electronic scanning equipment to record sales. Collect cash, checks, or process credit card transactions for purchases, and follow ASI cash handling policies.
- Restock inventory as needed per visual merchandising display guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized store and inventory rooms.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- 1-year retail or customer service experience.
- H.S. Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of basic math to count accurate change and sales.
- Basic computer skills to operate the POS, ability to learn and understand standard procedures and troubleshoot problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrating ability to speak and write in a clear and understandable manner for internal/external relations.
- Demonstrate ability to provide outstanding customer service by identifying and focusing on customer needs/requests, resolving conflict.
- Demonstrate ability to follow through on projects in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended period of time.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds often. 20 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to go up and down stairs several times a shift.
