Sanitation Lead (3rd Shift)

Position Summary

Under the direction of a Manager, lead the shift of team members within a department to successfully complete assigned duties and tasks. This position will provide training to new team members on department processes. This position is responsible for leading the sanitation crew in the day-to-day operations of a department.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for rinsing equipment with high-pressure hot water systems.
• Apply cleaning chemicals to equipment, walls, ceilings, floors, and drains with a foamer.
• Scrub equipment with cleaning chemicals using a green pad.
• Lift parts to tear down, set up equipment, or properly store equipment.
• Clean floors using a squeegee.
• Directly responsible for mixing and preparing chemicals.
• Assure sanitation quality by adhering to SSOP and USDA policies, including conducting pre-operational inspections and checking areas before startup.
• Responsible for cleaning various non-production areas, including bathrooms, breakrooms, smock rooms, mop rooms, and garbage chutes.
• Keep grounds outside the plant clean and free of trash and debris.
• Supply bathrooms and handwash stations with needed materials daily.
• Follow up on progress of assigned work throughout the shift.
• Responsible for training new employees.
• Provide feedback regarding progress and problems to the Sanitation Manager as needed.
• Organize sanitation team members to conduct various jobs and duties.
• Assist the Manager with investigations for corrective action when work standards, safety policies, or GMPs are violated.
• Audit sanitation team members for safety and proper cleaning procedures.
• Communicate with other departments regarding operational needs and planning.
• Plan job assignments for the shift.
• Perform overtime and/or holiday duty as required by the work schedule.
• Effectively communicate with team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Knowledge of sanitation chemicals and how and where to use them.
• Ability to train new employees on department processes.
• Ability to effectively communicate with team members and other departments.
• Ability to follow SSOPs, USDA policies, GMPs, safety policies, and company procedures.
• Must have been in their current position for 90 days to transfer to another shift, line, or department. No time-in-seat requirement applies for demotions on the same shift.
• No more than four (4) occurrence points.
• No more than two (2) written warnings in the last 12 months.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

• Must be willing and able to climb ladders and steps to clean overhead areas.
• Must be willing and able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be willing and able to work in extreme temperatures as low as -30°F.
• Must be able to perform cleaning activities using high-pressure water systems, cleaning chemicals, foaming equipment, green pads, and squeegees.
• Must be able to lift, move, tear down, set up, and store equipment parts.
• Must be able to work in environments involving water, cleaning chemicals, and sanitation equipment.
