Summary of Job Duties:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing the installation, repair, prevention, and overall upkeep of an agency's facilities, equipment, and infrastructure. This role requires a strategic leader who not only manages day-to-day maintenance activities but also drives long-term planning initiatives, budget oversight, process improvements, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The Maintenance Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring operational efficiency, reducing downtime, and extending the life of physical assets across multiple sites or a single large facility.

• Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no manipulation of data.
• Develop, implement, and monitor maintenance plans and preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment and facilities operate smoothly. Conducts building inspections.
• Directs activities of in-house construction projects.
• Prepare and manage the maintenance section's budget, monitoring expenses and implementing cost control measures. Analyze maintenance costs and report on key performance indicators (e.g., downtime, repair frequencies, and maintenance return on investment).
• Lead and mentor a team of technicians and supervisors, setting clear performance standards and providing ongoing training and development.
• Negotiate service contracts, supervise vendor performance, and ensure quality, timely service, and adherence to agency standards.
• Maintains appropriate personal attendance, accountability, and work productivity standards.
• Plans, prioritizes and organizes assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.
• Shows respect and courtesy to students, employees, and all campus guests.
• Provides quality services for students and staff ensuring that quality is maintained and needs are met.
• Exchanges ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner and contributes meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge.
• Works in partnership with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided.
• Accepts direction and supervision to include assignments to temporarily perform job responsibilities of other positions and time frames.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning, and plumbing systems
• Excellent leadership qualities combined with the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, vendors, and senior management.
• Sound decision-making, conflict resolution, and the ability to motivate teams in high-pressure environments.
• Abilities to assess maintenance issues, identify trends, and develop effective long-range solutions
• Organized in planning and prioritizing tasks, projects, and resources effectively
• Ability to conduct on-site inspections of buildings to determine quality of maintenance and condition of physical structure.


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; Associates Degree or License in Technical field a plus
  • Five years of experience in the building trades, or related area
  • Two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
