Test Engineer Intern Summary

Test Engineers are responsible for working as part of an agile team that delivers business value to its customers. They ensure software is delivered to high quality standard by collaborating with their agile team members and by leveraging various testing techniques. Test Engineers embrace the planning, design, management, execution and reporting of tests, using appropriate testing tools and techniques while conforming to agreed upon process standards and industry specific regulations.

Automation Test Engineer Intern Summary – Solutions - Team Rocket

The Rocket Team is seeking a Test Automation Intern Engineer to join our team. Working within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment, the successful candidate will support the development and execution of automated testing solutions for the FINEOS application, helping to ensure the delivery of high-quality software releases.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in software testing, test automation, Agile delivery, cloud technologies, and the use of AI in software engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using Playwright.

  • Support testing activities for the FINEOS application, ensuring quality and reliability across releases.

  • Execute smoke tests, regression tests, an FINEOS upgrade testing to support successful application releases.

  • Perform manual testing where required, including functional, exploratory, and user-focused testing activities.

  • Analyse test results, identify defects, and support defect investigation and resolution.

  • Collaborate with developers, testers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and wider programme stakeholders within a SAFe Agile environment.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Support testing reporting activities, providing clear updates on test execution, quality metrics, and release readiness.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across quality engineering, automation, and testing practices.

  • Explore and utilise AI tools and capabilities to improve software development, testing efficiency, and team productivity.

  • Maintain test assets and collaborate through GitHub and CI/CD tooling.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of or experience with Java programming.

  • Understanding of software testing principles and test automation concepts.

  • Knowledge of Agile ways of working and software development lifecycles.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional delivery team.

  • Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and approaches.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Playwright or Selenium automation frameworks.

  • Experience using GitHub.

  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

  • Knowledge of SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework).

  • Interest in leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) within software engineering and testing.

  • Familiarity with enterprise application testing and release support activities.
