Description
Work Schedule: Monday thru Thursday 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Friday overtime when required by business needs
Performs a variety of packaging and production duties including the setup, operation, monitoring, cleaning, and troubleshooting of packaging and automated production equipment. Equipment may include product fillers, metal detectors, cappers, cap sealers, automatic labelers, scales, conveyors, lot coders, heat tunnels, turntables, cello equipment, pumps, and material handling systems.
Responsible for maintaining production efficiency, product quality, safety, and compliance with GMP and SOP requirements. Accurately completes production documentation, performs sanitation activities, and supports continuous improvement initiatives throughout the production process.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up, operate, monitor, adjust, and clean packaging equipment including fillers, cappers, sealers, labelers, conveyors, scales, metal detectors, heat tunnels, turntables, pumps, and coding equipment.
- Operate and monitor automated production and material handling systems used for packaging and product movement.
- Perform basic troubleshooting, adjustments, startups, shutdowns, changeovers, and routine operational checks on packaging and automated equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
- Follow all safety procedures, including machine guarding and lockout/tagout requirements.
- Palletize and package products, verifying product quality throughout the packaging process.
- Prepare boxes and packaging materials as needed.
- Accurately complete production records, reports, and required documentation.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, containers, and production areas to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with GMP standards.
- Work in production areas as assigned and support staffing needs across multiple packaging lines.
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Assist with training newly hired and temporary employees on job-specific duties and work procedures.
- Make productive use of time, including shift overlap periods, to support effective communication and operational continuity.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable SOPs, GMPs, safety procedures, and work instructions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of general packaging and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and workplace safety requirements.
- Experience operating packaging or automated production equipment preferred.
- Good mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong attention to quality, accuracy, and detail.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and cross-functional teams across all shifts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may include dust and noise.
