Purpose
The Texas Union Underground is seeking dependable, motivated student employees to serve as Underground Student Supervisors. This position offers increased leadership responsibility while supporting daily Underground operations and helping create a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable environment for guests.
Underground Student Supervisors serve as role models for student staff and assist with customer service, facility operations, cash handling, staff guidance, inventory, and opening and closing responsibilities. Successful candidates will demonstrate reliability, initiative, sound judgment, professionalism, and excellent customer service.
This position is open to Work-Study and non-Work-Study.

Responsibilities
Student Supervisors are expected to:
Maintain thorough knowledge of and follow service desk procedures and Underground and Texas Union rules, regulations, and policies.
Follow established cash-handling procedures and maintain accurate records, including sign-in/sign-out logs, drawer balancing, deposits, and related documentation.
Provide student staff with assistance, direction, and guidance as needed.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for employees and guests.
Become proficient in the Underground's computerized lane control system.
Learn basic pinsetter functions and assist with identifying and correcting common operational problems.
Assist management with monthly inventory of retail merchandise and other stock.
Conduct weekly inventories of office supplies, worksheets, forms, and other operational materials, and report low stock with sufficient time for replenishment.
Complete routine responsibilities and special projects with minimal direction.
Assist professional staff with assessing student employee performance and preparing employee evaluations.
Perform opening, closing, evening transition, and other supervisory shift responsibilities as operationally necessary.
Required Qualifications
Must be a current student at The University of Texas at Austin and meet the University's student employment eligibility requirements, including enrollment in at least six (6) semester credit hours, unless otherwise eligible under University policy.
Complete and maintain required TABC alcohol certification.
A strong record of reliability, punctuality, and dependability.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling cash and completing operational records.
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers, student employees, and professional staff.
Willingness to provide leadership, guidance, and constructive assistance to peers.
Initiative and the ability to recognize tasks that need attention without waiting for specific direction.
Ability to learn and confidently use facility equipment and computer systems.
Good judgment and the ability to respond appropriately to routine operational issues.
Commitment to maintaining a welcoming, inclusive, clean, and safe environment.
Flexibility to work a variety of supervisory shifts based on the operational needs of the Underground.
Hourly Rate:
$11.34 per hour; up to 19 hours per week
