The Impact You'll Make in this Role


We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mobile / RF Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep technical expertise in enterprise mobility, rugged handheld devices, and RF technologies. This role requires hands-on experience managing large-scale mobile environments and serving as the technical authority for enterprise mobile devices, rugged scanners, RF terminals, wearable devices, tablets, and mobile device management (MDM) platforms. The successful candidate will lead the design, implementation, support, and optimization of global mobile solutions that enable warehouse, manufacturing, retail, logistics, and field service operations while ensuring security, reliability, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the global technical authority for enterprise mobility solutions, including rugged handheld devices, RF scanners, tablets, smartphones, and tablets on forklifts.

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting, performance analysis, and root cause analysis for mobile hardware, RF devices, wireless connectivity, and enterprise mobility platforms.

  • Support global IT teams with a specific focus on international locations, ensuring consistent service delivery across multiple regions.

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise mobile solutions aligned with business, security, and operational standards.

  • Lead the lifecycle management of enterprise mobile and RF devices, including procurement, provisioning, configuration, deployment, maintenance, refresh, repair, and retirement.

  • Develop and maintain standardized global device catalogs, configurations, and deployment standards.

  • Support testing, validation, and rollout of new mobile hardware models, operating system updates, firmware releases, and enterprise applications.

  • Administer and optimize Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) platforms such as Microsoft Intune, 42Gears SureMDM, and Avalanche.

  • Collaborate with wireless networking teams to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity, roaming, authentication, and RF performance issues within enterprise environments.

  • Ensure mobile security through device compliance, encryption, certificate management, application protection, and secure access policies.

  • Participate in projects involving enterprise mobility modernization, warehouse automation, mobile application deployment, and digital transformation initiatives.

  • Identify opportunities to automate device enrollment, provisioning, software deployment, inventory management, and operational workflows.

  • Work with business stakeholders to understand operational requirements and recommend scalable mobility solutions.

  • Develop technical documentation, knowledge articles, standard operating procedures, and deployment guides.

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with hardware manufacturers, wireless technology partners, and managed service providers.

  • Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership during major incidents, enterprise projects, and technology evaluations.

  • Stay current with emerging enterprise mobility technologies, wireless standards, rugged device innovations, and industry best practices.

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, the organization requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution,

    OR

  • High School diploma/GED with equivalent professional experience.

  • 8+ years of overall IT infrastructure or mobility management experience.

  • 5+ years supporting enterprise mobile devices, rugged RF hardware, and enterprise mobility solutions.

  • Experience supporting global enterprise mobility environments across multiple business locations.

Additional Qualifications That Could Help You Succeed Even Further

  • Extensive experience with rugged mobile devices from Zebra, Honeywell, or similar enterprise manufacturers.

  • Hands-on experience administering Microsoft Intune or comparable MDM/EMM platforms.

  • Strong knowledge of Android Enterprise, Android AOSP and iOS enterprise deployments.

  • Experience supporting barcode scanners, RFID devices, wearable computers, mobile printers, vehicle-mounted terminals, and warehouse mobility solutions.

  • Knowledge of enterprise wireless networking, including Wi-Fi standards (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax), roaming, RF optimization, authentication, and security.

  • Experience deploying enterprise applications using Zero-Touch Enrollment, Android Enterprise, Apple Business Manager, or equivalent provisioning technologies.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), and Microsoft 365.

  • Knowledge on integrating mobile solutions with ERP, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), or Supply Chain platforms.

  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow ITSM, Hardware Asset Management (HAM), CMDB, and ITIL service management processes.

  • Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash, or similar tools.

  • Strong understanding of mobile security, compliance, certificate management, VPN technologies, and conditional access policies.

  • Excellent vendor management, stakeholder engagement, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Certification on ITIL Foundation, Microsoft Intune, Zebra, Honeywell, or Scrum Master certifications are considered an advantage.
