Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) – Part-Time
Location: Murfreesboro, TN
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our growing home health team in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT), the COTA will provide skilled occupational therapy services in patients' homes, helping individuals improve functional independence, safety, and overall quality of life.
This position offers a flexible part-time schedule and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by delivering patient-centered care in a home health setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Provide occupational therapy interventions to improve activities of daily living (ADLs), functional mobility, strength, coordination, balance, and fine motor skills.
- Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic exercises, adaptive equipment, home safety techniques, and strategies that promote independence.
- Monitor patient progress and communicate treatment outcomes, concerns, and changes in condition to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to support positive patient outcomes.
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and continuing education activities as needed.
- Follow all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and professional standards.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current Tennessee license as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.
- Ability to travel throughout the Murfreesboro service area.
Preferred
- NBCOT certification.
- Previous home health experience.
- Experience working with adult and geriatric populations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of occupational therapy principles and treatment techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills.
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, transfer, reposition, and assist patients as necessary.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely transport therapy equipment and supplies.
- Ability to navigate various residential environments.
Work Environment
- Services are provided in patients' homes throughout Murfreesboro and surrounding communities.
- Frequent local travel is required.
- Work is performed independently in a variety of home settings.
- May encounter stairs, pets, varying home conditions, and environmental factors typical of residential care.
- Must be able to adapt treatment approaches to support patient safety and achieve therapeutic goals in the home environment.
