Position Summary:
The Planner/Project Controls professional is responsible for supporting operational and project performance across the organization. This role is responsible for planning, forecasting, scheduling, resource analysis, cost monitoring, and performance reporting to provide leadership with timely and accurate information for decision-making.
The Planner/Project Controls position will partner closely with Operations and Project leadership to improve visibility into project execution, workforce and equipment utilization, budgets, schedules, and overall business performance.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop and maintain project and operational schedules
- Support workforce planning and resource forecasting activities
- Monitor project and operational performance against established plans and forecasts
- Develop utilization reports for personnel, equipment, and other operational resources
- Maintain visibility into project costs, budgets, and financial performance
- Support Project Managers and Operations Managers with planning and forecasting activities
- Develop performance dashboards, KPI reporting, and management reports
- Identify schedule, cost, and resource risks and communicate findings to management
- Support the development of project execution plans and operational forecasts
- Coordinate planning activities across Operations, Transportation, Midstream, and Technical Services
- Maintain accurate data within applicable planning and reporting system
- Support KPI development, measurement, and performance-monitoring systems
- Participate in operational excellence and continuous-improvement initiatives
- Support management reviews and performance-review meetings
- Help standardize planning and project-controls practices across the organization
- Ability and willingness to travel to other company locations and project sites, as business needs require
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant experience may be considered
- 2-3 years of experience in project controls, planning, scheduling, forecasting, operations analysis, construction, engineering, industrial services, or a related field
- Experience with resource planning, KPI development, performance reporting, and cost or schedule management preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to work with data and identify trends
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work with consistency
- Ability to communicate effectively with operational and executive stakeholders
- Ability to analyze complex information and translate into clear, actionable reporting
Preferred Certifications/Technical Experience:
- PMP/PMI-SP or related certifications
- Primavera P6
- Microsoft Project
- Lean Six Sigma
- Other relevant industry certifications
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Frequently operates a computer and other standard office equipment
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working in an office environment
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, reach and lift up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to travel to project sites, fabrication facilities, and customer locations as needed
- Ability to inspect field operations, which may require walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and wearing required PPE
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, industrial environments, noise, moving equipment, and construction activities may occur during site visits
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary: $65,000 to $70,000
Overtime: Exempt
