Job Description:

All employees of Renaissance Secondary School will work together to achieve our school’s vision and mission.

    

Position Specific Information (if Applicable):

Responsible for developing and leading a competitive high school soccer program for Renaissance Secondary School students. This is a first year program that is building as we begin to enter CHSAA with the goal of entering varsity level play in subsequent years. This role includes teaching age-appropriate soccer fundamentals, game strategy, and skill development while emphasizing teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. The coach fosters a structured, positive team environment that supports both athletic growth and personal responsibility, and ensures the safety and well-being of all participants during practices and games. Additional responsibilities include maintaining participation and eligibility records, coordinating practices and competitions, and communicating clearly and consistently with students, families, and school staff.

Coaching and Instruction

●  Develop and implement soccer training programs tailored to high school students’ skill levels and abilities, with an emphasis on competitive league play.

●  Teach fundamental soccer skills, position-specific techniques, offensive and defensive concepts, and age-appropriate game strategy.

●  Prepare the team for competition by implementing practice plans, set plays, and game strategies aligned with league rules and expectations.

●  Evaluate player skills and support fair, developmentally appropriate position placement and playing opportunities.

●  Provide individualized feedback and instruction to support skill development, confidence, and performance growth.

●  Complete all necessary training per CHSAA policies not limited to Concussion in Sports course and the CHSAA annual Coach Test.

Safety and Supervision

●  Ensure all soccer activities are conducted in accordance with CHSAA rules, school policies, and established safety protocols.

●  Actively supervise students during practices and games to maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment.

●  Monitor equipment use and playing conditions to help prevent injury and promote athlete well-being.

Team Building, Motivation, and Sportsmanship

●  Foster a positive, disciplined team culture that emphasizes teamwork, accountability, sportsmanship, and respect for teammates, opponents, and officials.

●  Promote resilience, effort, and competitive spirit while supporting the social and emotional development of high school athletes.

●  Teach students how to compete with integrity, manage wins and losses appropriately, and demonstrate personal responsibility.

●  Lead team-building activities that strengthen cohesion, morale, and leadership among players.

Game Management and Competitive Readiness

●  Manage game-day operations, including substitutions, positioning, and in-game adjustments in alignment with CHSAA rules.

●  Set and communicate clear expectations for preparation, attendance, behavior, and effort during practices and competitions.

●  Support players in understanding and meeting the commitments required for participation in a competitive athletic program.

Communication and Collaboration

●  Communicate regularly and effectively using TeamSnap (Renaissance’s communication platform for athletics and clubs) with students, parents, and school staff regarding practices, games, expectations, and player progress. At a minimum, the coach must communicate with the team on a weekly basis.

●  Collaborate with the Athletic Director and other coaches to coordinate schedules, CHSAA requirements, and overall program goals.

Administrative Duties

●  Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and any incidents that occur during practices or games.

●  Communicate promptly and professionally with the Athletic Director regarding attendance, player development, concerns, and any incidents.

Required Qualifications Education:

●  High School Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree preferred

●  First Aid/CPR Certification - Colorado Preferred skills and work experience:

●  Soccer D License or higher preferred, but not required.

●  Previous soccer coaching or youth sports experience preferred.

●  Strong knowledge of soccer rules, drills, safety practices, and equipment management.

●  Demonstrated leadership, motivation, and communication skills.

●  Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and staff.

●  Ability to effectively supervise students during practices, games, and team activities.

●  Commitment to maintaining a positive, inclusive, and safe team environment. Physical demands:

●  Physical activity is required, including the ability to run, demonstrate soccer skills and techniques, and assist students as needed during practices and games.

Schedule Details Job Classification:  Exempt, Seasonal (March - May) This is a part-time, seasonal position, with practices and competitions primarily held outside of regular school hours. The minimum expected weekly commitment consists of up to two competition days (approximately two and one half hours per evening, plus required travel time) and three practice sessions per week, with a minimum duration of one hour.

Salary Details Stipend range: $3,500–$5,100

  • All salary amounts listed above are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE. If applicable, part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
