About the role

As a Brass Tutor, this is your opportunity to deliver engaging brass music tuition through the Just Brass program, helping young people build confidence, resilience and musical skills while connecting families with The Salvation Army community.

Reporting to the Corps Officer, this is a permanent, part-time role, offering 10 hours per week, based in Kilkenny, SA.

How you will make an impact

  • Deliver engaging brass music tuition and lead weekly rehearsals for students in partnering primary schools.
  • Build positive relationships with school staff to support student participation and outcomes.
  • Support and participate in Just Brass performances, events and community engagement activities throughout the year.
  • Manage instruments and equipment, ensuring resources are maintained and repair requirements are communicated.
  • Coordinate program administration and maintain effective communication with schools and the Just Brass Coordinator.
  • Maintain compliance with organisational policies, professional development requirements and safe work practices.
  • Ad hoc administrative tasks

What you will bring

  • Extensive experience in playing brass instrument/s, coupled with experience in providing instrument tuition.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army.
  • A Working with Children’s Check is required.
  • A National Police check is required.
  • PMI (Private Music Instructor) registration with Education Department
  • RAN-EC Certificate (required by school and for PMI)

Conditions

Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Level 2.
