What you bring to SBHG:
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET) required.
Associate degree in a social science field preferred.
Experience:
Six (6) months of direct care experience in a mental health setting preferred. (A non-professional, consumer-directed internship may be substituted.)
Certifications & Licensure:
Valid CPR, First Aid, and ProAct certifications are required within 30 days of employment.
Valid California Driver’s License and eligibility to meet agency driving criteria preferred.
How you will make a difference
The Recovery Counselor has the primary responsibility for assisting clients with daily living skills, including eating, personal hygiene, grooming, and other care needs. Monitors attendance and encourages participation in activities and therapeutic programs using positive motivation and support. Helps lead group activities and outings, promotes positive social interaction among clients, and serves as a positive role model. Maintains accurate documentation of client participation and responses in the medical record and participates in treatment team meetings as needed.
Division/Program Overview:
Population Served: Serving adults, ages 18-59
Facility & Setting: 24/7 inpatient voluntary program, 16-bed facility
Clinical Services: Rehabilitation/recovery services, including substance use rehabilitation services
Length of Stay: 30 day stay
Skills & Services: Pre-vocational or vocational counseling and medication evaluation and support services.
