Description
Machinist (I and II) - Second Shift
Also known as: CNC Operator · CNC Machine Operator · Milling Machinist · CNC Lathe Operator · Precision Machinist
We make parts that end up on aircraft and defense systems, and we hold tolerances that most shops never attempt. We need a reliable second-shift CNC operator to own a set of production Haas equipment and be fully running every part on that shift within 90 days.
Pay
$20.00 - $30.00/hr ($41,600 - $62,400/yr), based on experience and level. We hire at both Machinist I (entry level) and Machinist II (3+ years experience).
What You'll Own
- Operate production Haas CNC mills and lathes on second shift, loading and unloading parts, monitoring cycles, and keeping output moving.
- Follow traveler work instructions to produce conforming parts the first time, every time.
- Measure your own work using calipers, micrometers, and gauges, and flag anything that doesn't look right before it becomes a problem downstream.
- Deburr, clean, and prep finished parts so they're ready for inspection without a second trip back to you.
- Keep your area clean, organized, and safe, because in an aerospace shop, housekeeping is not optional.
- (Machinist II) Adjust offsets, swap tooling, troubleshoot dimensional drift, and help bring newer operators up to speed.
What Delva Brings
Delva Tool and Machine is an AS9100 Rev D certified precision shop in Cinnaminson, NJ, serving aerospace and defense customers. We hold tolerances to +/-0.0002" across aluminum, titanium, stainless, and tool steels. Our floor runs Vertical Mills, Lathes, Swiss Lathes, and Mazak 5-axis horizontals with robotic loaders and automated pallet systems. This is not a commodity job shop. The work requires genuine attention and skill, and it goes into programs that matter.
What You Bring
Must-have (Machinist I):
- High school diploma, GED, trade or vocational certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Ability to read and follow written work instructions and travelers
- Comfort using basic hand measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Reliable, second-shift availability (no exceptions for this role)
- Attention to detail and willingness to ask questions rather than guess
Must-have (Machinist II, in addition to the above):
- 3+ years of CNC machining experience in a production environment
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T callouts
- Experience adjusting offsets, replacing tooling, and diagnosing common machining issues (tool wear, surface finish, dimensional drift)
- Ability to perform and document in-process inspections
Nice to have (either level):
- Experience on Haas CNC equipment specifically
- Aerospace or defense shop background
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems
- Experience with aluminum, titanium, or exotic alloy materials
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid time off
- Stable, full-time schedule in a growing shop with real career ladder (Machinist I leads to Machinist II leads to Lead and Setup roles)
