Description

The Fluid Connector Account Manager is responsible for growing sales of hydraulic hose, fittings, connectors, adapters, couplings, and related fluid conveyance products within assigned accounts and territory. This is a technical outside sales position focused specifically on fluid conveyance applications, building strong customer relationships, developing new business, and providing product solutions that meet customer requirements.


The Account Manager serves as a primary contact for fluid conveyance customers and works closely with Wilson's Customer Service, Hose and Production teams, suppliers, and manufacturers to identify opportunities, solve application challenges, and grow profitable business.


Duties/Responsibilities:

Fluid Conveyance Sales & Business Development

  • Manage and grow sales of hydraulic hose, fittings, connectors, adapters, couplings, and related fluid conveyance products within assigned accounts and territory.
  • Develop new business by identifying and pursuing customers with fluid conveyance and hydraulic hose requirements.
  • Regularly call on customers and prospects to understand their applications, identify opportunities, and develop long-term relationships.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to increase fluid conveyance market penetration and achieve sales and profit goals.
  • Prepare quotes, proposals, and product recommendations; follow up on opportunities and close sales.
  • Identify new applications, products, and opportunities for hose and connector products.
  • Monitor market conditions, competitor activity, and territory opportunities.

Customer & Application Support

  • Serve as a primary contact for customers and provide responsive, professional service.
  • Understand customer applications and recommend appropriate hose, fitting, connector, coupling, and fluid conveyance solutions.
  • Work directly with customers to troubleshoot hose and connector applications and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Provide product information, technical guidance, pricing, and order support.
  • Help customers understand proper product selection, application, installation, and use.
  • Address customer concerns and complaints and involve appropriate internal or supplier resources when needed.
  • Continuously develop technical knowledge of fluid conveyance products, applications, and industry requirements.
  • Train customers and associates on hose, connector, and fluid conveyance products and applications as needed.

Internal & Supplier Collaboration

  • Work closely with Customer Service, Hose Production, Warehouse, and other internal teams to meet customer needs.
  • Partner with suppliers and manufacturer representatives on fluid conveyance applications, product solutions, and customer opportunities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and utilize their technical resources when appropriate.
  • Communicate customer needs, market information, new products, and competitive activity to the appropriate Wilson team members.
  • Participate in sales meetings, product training, and other company initiatives.

Account & Territory Management

  • Maintain accurate customer, sales, and activity records.
  • Prepare call reports, expense reports, forecasts, and other sales information as required.
  • Analyze account and territory potential and identify opportunities to grow fluid conveyance sales.
  • Follow through on customer commitments and maintain consistent communication.
  • Operate in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong B2B sales skills with the ability to develop relationships, present solutions, negotiate, and close business.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in hydraulic hose, connectors, and fluid conveyance products.
  • Ability to understand hose and connector applications and translate customer requirements into appropriate product solutions.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Strong problem-solving and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to build credibility with customers through technical knowledge and      professional communication.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general business software.
  • Ability and willingness to develop technical and professional knowledge through training and certifications.

Education and Experience: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical school, associate degree, or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of B2B, outside sales, account management, or technical sales experience preferred.
  • Experience with hydraulic hose, fittings, connectors, couplings, fluid conveyance, or industrial distribution preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Majority of work is performed in the field visiting customers and prospects.
  • Regional travel is required, with occasional overnight travel for customer visits, training, or other business needs.
  • May periodically work in the office, warehouse, or hose production areas to support customer or operational needs.
  • Ability to safely navigate customer, warehouse, and industrial environments.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record required.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and vehicle suitable for representing Wilson Company.

Salary Range: Base Salary + Commission 


**Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, drug screening, and acceptable motor vehicle record, as well as possession of a valid driver’s license prior to start date.
