Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is looking for a Principal Crew and Equipment Design Engineer / Sr. Principal Crew and Equipment Design Engineer with experience in Design and integration in the Aerospace industry to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This role is located in Melbourne, FL. This position is fully onsite with no remote work available.
Essential Functions:
Develops ICDs, creates layouts, machined parts, sheet metal details, and installs of system equipment (LRU)
Uses NX for 3D Model-Based Definition and releases engineering packages using Teamcenter CPLM
Experienced in leading and/or mentoring others
Working independently under general supervision and as part of a large multi-disciplined team.
Collaborate with inter-departmental vehicle sub-system departments including aircraft structure, electrical installation, hydraulics, environmental control systems, and manufacturing teams
Facilitating design reviews with key stakeholders to ensure designs meet requirements.
Ability to work with suppliers for integration activities

Collaborate with inter-departmental vehicle sub-system departments including aircraft structure, electrical installation, hydraulics, environmental control systems, and manufacturing teams.
Facilitating design reviews with key stakeholders to ensure designs meet requirements.
Attending internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.
This role may be filled as a Crew & Equipment Principal Engineer (Level 3) or Sr. Principal Engineer (Level 4) based on the qualifications outlined below.
Basic Qualifications:
Basic qualifications for a Principal Engineer include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 5 years of experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of experience, or a PhD Degree with no experience.
Basic qualifications for a Sr. Principal Engineer include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 8 years of experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 6 years of experience, or a PhD Degree with 3 years of experience.
Must have an active US Government Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment
Experience leading others.
Experience in delivering complex technical solutions, within cost and schedule constraints, across the various phases of the engineering lifecycle.
Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications and assembly drawings.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active In-Scope US Government Top Secret clearance
Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
Experience with the design, analysis and integration of equipment/ LRU's onto a platform.
Experience with CAD software NX
Experience with Teamcenter PLM
Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures.
Experience in delivering complex technical solutions, within cost and schedule constraints, across the various phases of the engineering lifecycle.
