You have a proven track record of leading complex technical investigations, driving design-for-manufacturability improvements, and influencing engineering decisions across multiple functions. You enjoy working in fast-paced environments where technical depth, collaboration, and execution are equally valued. You are motivated by challenging problems, take ownership of results, and continuously seek opportunities to improve products, processes, and the customer experience.
You will be responsible for:
Under general direction/supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position
- Serve as the electrical engineering technical lead for manufacturing support, sustaining engineering, and product lifecycle management activities.
- Lead complex root cause investigations and corrective actions involving electronic assemblies, system integration, and field or manufacturing performance issues.
- Responsible for detailed failure investigation, including fault isolation to the component or subsystem level, root‑cause determination, and implementation of effective corrective actions
- Conduct hands‑on electrical engineering analysis (analog and digital) and detailed fault isolation to component or subsystem level
- Employs technical knowledge in electronics and PCBA’s, functional testing, assembly processes and techniques, LEAN/Six Sigma tools, and other engineering skills to constantly identify, raise, gain approval, and execute, in collaboration with external and internal partners, to deliver improvement opportunities within the raw material supply chain against targets.
- Focus on reducing scrap and improving yields related to Printed Circuit Boards in manufacturing. Working with supplier to maintain continuity of supply by working to improve highest failures, troubleshooting and testing.
- Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) improvements to enhance quality, reliability, cost, and manufacturability of electronic assemblies.
- Partner closely with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and Operations teams to resolve technical challenges and implement robust engineering solutions.
- Provide technical oversight for PCBAs, electrical subsystems, test methodologies, and manufacturing processes.
- Leads and/or participates in moderately complex quality and failure investigations involving raw material suppliers or external manufacturers, partnering with the appropriate cross-functional resources and subject matter expertise as required, to identify root cause and implement corrective action. Communicates updates and progress and escalates appropriately.
- Provides guidance and input to leadership as it relates to the ability of external suppliers to maintain adequate capacity to support the demand forecast. Anticipates future constraints and raises, gains approval, and executes activities in advance of any constraints to ensure continuity of supply to customers.
- Perform system‑level troubleshooting of electro‑mechanical and electro‑pneumatic systems, including hardware/software interactions
- Lead root‑cause investigations for field and internal product issues, ensuring clear problem replication and resolution
- Support product transfers, supplier qualification activities, and process capability improvements across internal and external manufacturing sites.
- Develop and review engineering documentation including specifications, protocols, test plans, validation reports, risk assessments, and technical justifications.
- Evaluation and implementation of electronic components for replacement due to end of life. Will require assessment of PCBA circuity and redesign for DFM of PCB as required.
- Evaluate design changes and manufacturing process improvements through risk-based decision making and engineering analysis.
- Support regulatory submissions, compliance testing, and certification activities including IEC, UL, FCC, and applicable medical device standards.
- Analyze field, production, and reliability data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor engineers and technicians while providing technical guidance across cross-functional teams.
